My mom was at a resort in northern Mexico, and she met a really funny couple from Mexico City. They became good friends, and my parents went out to dinner with them in Los Angeles. On Friday my mom told me that they wanted me to visit them at their ranch west of Mexico City. I got in touch with them, and on Saturday morning I made the journey to their estate. I woke up Saturday morning, dying of thirst, from a night of moderate drinking. Water is something you don't really think about in normal drunken circumstances, but in Mexico you can't drink from the tap. I was out of water, so I went down to the abarrotes (I don't know what it means either, but you can figure it out from the context of ... read more

Well i can't really remember what ive been up to all week but i will try my best. tuesday night me and heather taught another english class. it was the funnest one yet. we have realized that they realisitically they aren't gonna learn much due to the fact that are about 10 years old and me and heather have no idea what were doing...so basically we decided to be retards and make it really funny. we were dancing and teaching them the "head and shoulders knees and toes" song and doing random things like that. it was really fun. and heather drew a really really ugly picture on the board of a girl so we could teach them body parts and she put curly hair on it and the supervisor lady was like sarah thats you...i ... read more

This entry is por mi amiga Carly y tambien proveer la informacion de mi research in preparation por mi viaja. Only the dates in the first 10 dias are firm, the rest of the places are are on my list at some point during my journey. Arrive in Puebla at 8:15 en la noche en 25 del octubre. I have reservations at this hotel Hotel colonial, Puebla The address and lots of pictures of the hotel are on the link, not cheapest place in town, but I like to err on the side of caution when coming into a city I have never been to before, especially at night. Also got good reviews in Thorn Tree for what that's worth. Then on the 26th I plan to begin some intensive Spanish lessons here en Alixto SchoolAlixto ... read more

Waxin poetic in mexico city Here I am mexico city at the university relaxin kickin back doing some writing with tess just chopin away at the keyboard so much to say and tell keeping a travel blog is a lot harder than I thought! How to explain everything you see and learn on travels? How to communicate things you see that have probably no meaning to anyone but me? I remember back to Mazatlan when tess and I were in the bathroom together and something caught our eye in the toilet. A giant creature with 100 legs went scampering across the bowl, in the water and out. It was about 6 inches long, and the color of maroon. What was that! I went in for a closer look. I flushed the toilet, for it seemed to ... read more

So far isn´t as bad as they say, knock on wood. But I went to the internet cafe at night to finish this adventure, and hopefully get up to date so I can recount more adventures. Of course in travel there is always more to write than time to do it, but that´s part of the beauty, and why it suits a writer. So, we were having a good ol time drinkin with gabriel in Mazatlan. I kinda wondered what his motives might be though. He seemed really interested in Tess. Also, he kept buying us drinks and I wondered if he might be going to try to get us drunk and rob us or something. But it is similar to how I felt when I first arrived in Mexico: I was really suspicous at night, ... read more

But hey everyone, I am alive and well, made it to Mexico city and it was a delightful time! So many adventures to tell and so far behind, and I have to say, it´s late at night, almost bedtime, but not really, anyway I just don´t know where to start or where to end. It´s pretty overwhelming. Well I guess to start I will say that tess and I made it to Mexico City, and we both love it here. It is really impressive, and I never expected this of Mexico. I didn´t know what to expect, but here is an amazing city! Whenever we told anyone we were going to mexico city, they´d say, be careful, it´s dangerous, but so far, we haven´t been abducted and murdered, and I count that as pretty successful. OK, ... read more

Oh Mex-i-co! We were very excited about this trip to Rocky Point with a huge group of friends! Nick and I (along with Lucas and Amy obviously) were on the road by 8.30am. It took us 3-4 hours to make it south of the border, were we were waived into Mexico without even a glance at our passports!! A real contrast to the high tec American border control just meters away. As soon as you drive over the border you notice the difference, obviously not a lot of money there! The most amusing thing was undoubtably the road signs in Mexico on the way to rocky point. There was sign after sign warning you to watch out for different animals. After a while we were wondering if it was a joke of some sort - really ... read more

Yesterday my family picked me up and took me to where I will be staying. The family is a grandmother, her daughter, her grandson from another daughter and his wife and two sons. The house is very cuteand the family is very nice. I have my own room and bathroom in a little garden. There is another bed in my room, but right now I don´t have a roommate. I heard them talking about more people coming today, but I don´t know if one will be in my room. I really like the buildings here - well the three I have been in. I don´t know how to describe them. They don´t have very efficient use of space, but there are lots of patios and areas to just kind of hang out and enjoy the sunshine. ... read more
