FIVE DAYS IN MEXICO 8/25 TO 8/30 2020 My friend Sarina made plans to dive in Cabo Pulmo, Mexico, in August 2020. She invited me to join her. How could I resist? We both love to travel. Our second love is scuba diving. 2020 was the year of the Covid pandemic; travel for pleasure was discouraged. Although I was nervous about traveling, I was excited about the dive trip. My family was worried about me picking up Covid while traveling. I promised to quarantine for three weeks when I returned, by camping in the mountains. I could hardly wait to travel and do some diving again. In January 2020, I had surgery on the meniscus in my left knee, just before the lockdowns started. I was lucky. By late March, hospitals were full of Covid cases, ... read more

Hello all, I just realized I've been on several trips since my last post and I haven't blogged at all. I also noticed I have 8 entries that I haven't completed and published. Once I get some time t review them, and publish them. Since I'm going on a couple more trips this year, I figured it was time to blog again. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this short recap of the trip I just went on. I think one of the greatest gifts people can have is true friendship. Luckily, I've been blessed with a great wife, great family, and great friends. The latter was the reason for this trip. Our friend Lee (aka Dj Hoppa) is getting married later this month. Thus, a bunch of our friends that have know each other ... read more

Feb 14, 2020 – Mar 07, 2020 We left home just after lunch on Friday February 14, 2020. Our truck with our 35 square foot casa on the back is packed with the essentials we will require, and then some, for the next 75 or so days. First stop is Calgary where we went out for a nice Valentine’s Day supper and spent the night with friends. We hit the road early and made it to the US border by around noon on Feb 15th and crossed with no issues or holdups. We made our way quickly through the US spending the first night in a hotel in Dillon, Montana, the second night we got a hotel in Beaver, Utah. The next day we made it to Yuma, Arizona and stayed in our tiny casa in ... read more

Chile 13 – 24 February 2020, Mexico 26 February - 3 March This is the third and last blog about the cruise. Sorry it took so long but the last week on board comprised lots of port days, so much to see and record. The southern part of South America which ends in the Tierra del Fuego archipelago is a strange place, lots of islands and channels and if you look closely at the map you see that it is divided between Chile and Argentina. But as the area is narrow you are never far from the other country. However as soon as we were in Chile it felt a friendlier place than Argentina but that might have simply been the Usuaia 'cold shoulder' colouring our perception. By contrast Buenos Aires had been a lovely place ... read more

Hello from Cozumel. Today is our last port-of call for this cruise, until we return to Florida on Sunday. We had some bumpy patches during the night because there was a cold front that went through and that made some strong winds. This has really been our only stretch of less than perfect sailing weather. The high today was only supposed to get into the low 70s, but the locals felt we had great weather that wasn’t as hot as usual. We did not actually arrive in Cozumel until 10:00 so it was a perfect opportunity to do a small load of laundry in they morning, just to restock our unmentionables for the rest of the vacation. Janet had a good idea because the laundromat was empty when we got there but would probably be pretty ... read more

So , the final week of the trip. I am writing this in the Hilton Mexico city airport, in the terminal building, we leave from here tomorrow at 12.55. Firstly, I will fill you in on what we have been up to and then as always some reflections on the trip. Last Tuesday we were up early and set off in our hire car for Edzna. The car was a Chevrolet Beat and the gear box was as clunky as hell, Chris didn't really enjoy driving it. It was an hour to drive and unlike Uxmal wasn't at all busy. It was M$65 entrance, under £3 and we got a guide at the site called Elvis, yes seriously. He was great and he made a real effort to make the place come alive. The site is ... read more
