Off to Montréal The weather has cleared up some Excellent! Allons! I'm not sure if I just wrote down the right word in French for "let's go" but oh well...it fits in with the haiku. haha Just a quick hello from me. I can't believe that I've made it to Montréal already...in fact I arrived only a few hours ago! I happened across this internet place that seemed quite reasonable especially in comparison to the $6/hour I've been encountering. This isn't free but it sure does seem "bargainous" in comparison. Anyhoo, I plan on spending the weekend here in Montréal before heading off to Ottawa on Monday. I don't have anything in particular planned other than going for a walk up Mount Royal if the weather is nice and I'll also meet up with Dana (whom ... read more

Trip to the "Musee" I escaped outside the walls! Beautiful City! The day started out with some gray weather that surprisingly turned sunny for a little bit. So I decided to take a little walk around the streets outside of the Old Walled City of Québec towards the Musee du Québec in the Western part of the City near the infamous battlefields where Wolfe and Montcalm died in I think the 1700's sometime. There are so many funky and trendy shops and cafes along rue St. Jean. I couldn't help but pop into a few along the way and did a bit of browsing since most of the things I liked were sporting really big price tags! I eventually made it to the Musee du Québec (the Provincial Art Gallery) and "splurged" and paid the extra ... read more

It's past midnight lady! 02:00 Rolling! Hey is the old guy across fro me sleeping on the floor? 03:57 I have no idea where we just stopped. Riviere-du-loop. Kilometre 907 is my guess. 02:32...that's the time we were supposed to have arrived here. 06:48 Charnay in 15! Kilometre 1099! 07:03 Train is backing up to change tracks. 07:15 Leave the train. I walk towards the station to find my bag. I meet two Swiss women and we head to the shuttle. 07:23 I see L'Ocean take off. I'm sitting in the shuttle bus that will take me to Quebec City. 08:30 Checked into my hostel after a short trek...uphill! ... read more

Montebello is an hour-ish drive outside of Ottawa. It's a sleepy area that's very perfect for getting away from it all and lots of outdoorsy things to do. The Chateau is a beautiful log cabin in the woods. You can just imagine the people in the 30's in the long dresses playing croquet on the lawn. It's right by the river (haven't figured out which one yet) so the view is amazing. Being here on the last week of summer means I miss the beautiful fall colours and most of the summer fun. The outdoor pool was closed and the river was just a little bit too cold to do any canoeing or kayaking. I spent my day off visiting a restored heritage house (Manoir Papineau) and learning about the history of the area. I had ... read more

Back home I passed the entire day not believing what was happening and was about to happen. I kept on calling my friend, to make sure we wouldn't be missing anything. *exhales* Wow, I am leaving in a few hours. I need to pack, and make sure everything on my list is checked! We are leaving Montreal at 19:30 and going right away to England to arrive there early morning tomorrow... You cannot know how weird this is, I can't seem to realize much of what's happening, I really don't get that in less than a day I will be walking around London. How crazy is that! Who would have thought so... I didn't! And well thanks to Samantha for all of this, she's the one leaving to live over seas and well I am accompagnying ... read more

bonjour! Comment sa va, parla vu englis? wee! Tops someone specks english! Montreal is so french it's crazy! All the signs & menus & half don't have English under aswell. Half the people in M don't speak english well or don't want to speck english. I had dramas getting ice for the beer, ice is glace, remember that, it could save ya life or at least save you drinkin hot beer! I spent 5 days in M & had a top time, i shared a room with this english couple (Top people). So we walked around, saw the sights, hiked up mont royal, went out partyin & found a top cafe for a huge hangover breaky! On Sunday we went to the Mont royal park and there was markets, lots of drumming, people having picnics on ... read more

Hey! How's it going out there? Long time, no blog hey? Well, the news in the life of Charlieo is that I'm settling in to Montreal again. It's been about a year and a half since my geographic location has been so stable. The Co-op sur Genereux is bustling with bike repairs, giant pots of soup, and for me, lots of computing. Yup, despite the anti-social nature of tap tap tapping on keys, I plan to do a lot of it over the next year. Never mind that right now though; there's been lots of other cool stuff going on in the last month... I'll work backwards, towards my last blog: In the last week, I moved into the bedroom that I'll have 'til the end of December. I really can't over-emphasize how much I appreciate ... read more

I was up early this morning, and the first thing I did was check with reception to see if the hotel in Boston had returned my call. They hadn't, and so I rang them up again. They tried to pass me onto Housekeeping again, but I wouldn't have any of it. I asked that they check there and then. They then went off and checked, with me waiting on the line. Five minutes later, the member of staff came back, and said that no camera had been found in the room. I was gutted, though honestly had expected it not to be handed in. That meant I had lost my amazing photos from New York, me at Liberty Island, all my photos from the time in Boston too. I now vow to go back there, and ... read more

We depart this morning for Québec City, up in Québec, Canada. It was an early start again, which with these tours is pretty much the norm. Our first stop was at a service station at Kennebunk, Maine. I was next to Alex today. She was nice. She was from Hamburg, Germany, and was a really pleasant girl. Once we were back on the road again, and still travelling through Maine, Jordan put on a film. It was 'Good Will Hunting', which was mostly filmed in and around the state of Maine. I'd seen it before, but it was still a good film. We stopped for lunch before it had finished, at Skowhegan. I got a lovely roast beef roll for my lunch, and others got their lunch also. A number of us went and sat on ... read more
