Hey y'all. So I'm off in a couple hours. The amount of sleep alotted me has now been reduced to three hours. But what the hell, sleep is for wimps. If my mind were functioning a little better, I would try to wax eloquent on the subject of setting off. But I'm out of brain cells, so you're out of luck. I do hope you'll come back soon though, and I'll try to make it worth your time. zzzzzzzzzzzz... read more

We left as early as 4am that Saturday to start a grueling 5-hour drive to Montreal. They say that being in Montreal is like being in Europe. I got excited because I have never been to Europe. So after hours of driving, we arrived in Montreal at around 9am and we were able to check in to a nearby hotel where we will be staying for the night. It was not as fancy as Sandalwood but it would do for a good night's rest after gallivanting within the vicinity. It's called the Hotel Viger, along Rue Hubert or Hubert Street. Approx 60 bucks a night. Not bad for a tourist spot as popular as Montreal. A fellow guest in Sandalwood warned us about Montreal, since it will all be our first time there. He said all ... read more

I have been to Montreal, Canada a few times....LOVE it here. This is a huge city and has some of the best shopping and restaurants around. I lived on the east coast for a while and used to drive up from Boston to just hang out for the weekend. Whale watching, what a cool experience! We went to the little town of "Les Escoumins", just a few kilometers after the very popular Tadoussac. As soon as we arrived, we could see whales from the shores. We saw 3 species: the fin whale, (2nd largest after the blue whale), the mink whale abd the white beluga. We went East on the coast, until the Islands of Mingan: a collection of islands with naturally sculptured lime monoliths, lots of birds. Also, there's a mix of mixed pictures at the end.... read more

North America » Canada » Quebec » Québec City December 7th 2000

Vieux-Quebec ("Old Town") is a U.N.E.S.CO. world heritage site. Quebec City is the only North American fortified city north of Mexico whose walls still exist. "Kebec" is the Algonquin (aboriginal NE Canadians) word for "where the river narrows". French explorer Jacques Cartier built a fort here in 1535, and then returned to France. Quebec was founded by Samuel de Champlain in 1608... read more

Montréal: Je me souviens Montréal is great for any tourist standards. The city is nice, with integration between the old European style architecture, and the modern contemporary structures around the city. This is one of the reasons why we chose Montréal as a start point for our small reunion. Flying from Chicago, Sisca and I touched down in Montréal Dorval airport around 7pm, and tried to locate Yusuf, Johnschen and Fitria that had arrived from Baltimore two hours prior our landing. This is a French territory, as I reminded myself, as we saw many European looking people walking all around us speaking French. It doesn’t feel like we are still in North America; after all, Québec is trying to liberate itself from Canada, with the failure of 49-51 votes several years back. This is the reason ... read more
