We had a 9.15am start this morning and made our way to Niagara Falls which is what most of us had been waiting for… The first thing that strikes you is that you can see the falls from the road on the way into town and we could see it from the bus!! I guess I had expected that it would be in a National Park somewhere and be somewhat like the Grand Canyon - out of the way of the town but it isn't. The second thing I noticed is that I thought the falls would be taller, but they are not beautiful because of their height, it's more about the width and the shear force of the water. Niagara Falls, I have to tell you, may just be one of the most spectacular things ... read more

The next day, we rushed to take another train ride to Niagara......we don't want to miss this opportunity of few hours not to see the world-famous Niagara Falls......reaching the place after few hours and a stop-over in Toronto- we reached Niagara around 7pm....cold but not as cold as Ottawa. Hi Everyone Yesterday three of my co-workers and I drove to Niagara Falls and had a very good time. We drove to the Canadian side and parked and got out and walked to the Falls. They are very beautiful, but I always imagined them to be taller. We all took alot of pictures there. Then we walked up to the tourist area with the casinos, tourist shops, and silly museums and shows. You can buy things with USD but you get Canadian money back and they don't give you much as they should at alot of places. But we really didn't care. We wanted to have a good time and none us spent that much anyway. We ate on the patio at Kelsey's at Clifton Hill, while being serenaded by a young man playing piano and ... read more

I had one of he most incredible experiences of my life today. I saw Niagara Falls from the touristy-perspective, taking pictures of me smiling with my back to the familiar scene of the cascading horseshoe falls. I walked upstream a ways and stuck my feet in (strong current, by the way). But then, oh then came the ultimate: down to the Cave of the Winds to walk in front of the American falls! I walked on that narrow walkway, feeling the wind send a spray of mist onto my face. But then i strolled closer; the water at the base of the falls was bounding over boulders, a perfect rainbow was suspended over the scene, water droplets covered my hair and i had to stop myself from screaming with delight. There were no words to express ... read more

Naturally, the scenery is impressive. The Horseshoe Falls of the Niagara Falls could probably not have been more beautifully designed with the most modern techniques. It's wet, it's big, it's touristy, it's mighty. Yet, the wow-experience is just not there. Probably there is something wrong with me, as I keep thinking that there are more impressive places than this. This wonder of nature, admittedly one of the most romantic and legendary of attractions. Stories - true or not - are told about people who went down the falls in a barrel - and survived. Or the lady who dropped her newborn baby in the falls. Not sure whether these contribute to the overall impression in a positive or negative way, but they sure add to the legend and mystery. Maybe a boat ride into the falls ... read more
