Rained overnight. Went into Alma for breakfast, then to Fundy NP visitor center to finish up Xplorers (the Canadian equivalent to Junior Ranger). Went back to Hopewell Rocks to see high tide. Drove to Kouchibouguac NP and visited visitor center which was awesome. Saw a movie and learned about the area’s historical and environmental significance. Kouchi is a new park – less than 50 years old. They bought out people’s houses from 7 villages to make the park due to its’ significance in the history of the Migmac Indians and the ecosystem right on the coast of NB. Our campground was adjacent to the playground which was nice so the kids could play, but bad because other kids played LATE. Also it was cloudy so we couldn’t see the stars.... read more

Once again back at Tom's sisters and the sun is shining bright, but the mosquitos are still ever present so being out side is not a option. We decided to take Tom's sister and go and see here son and a pick up a few groceries today. Prices has always been an interest to me (weird ya I know) and most stuff was comparable to us except the dairy products. oh my my, a bag of milk is almost eight bucks and cream, butter and beef were just as expensive. seafood of coarse was a bit cheaper.... read more

Ran out of room to type, so here I continue. Was looking this morning and thinking, hhmm maybe we should do a quick little ferry ride over to Newfoundland since we have come all this way it would be a shame to leave it out. Well at a cost of over 300.00 and 8 hour ferry ride, thinking maybe not in plans after all lol. So for myself, will have to leave Newfoundland along with NWT and Nuavic as provinces yet to see. Fred is having a great time the smell of fish, wind blowing in his ears. He has enjoyed the luxury of his on bed in a hotel in Quebec, to his own chair at Shela's. So for him this travel thing is great. Well time to get the masses up and moving, although ... read more

Well it's early and I'm up, while everyone else sleeps I figured it was a good time to add some things we have done. We arrived on Thursday and Tom's sister Shelia could not believe we were there. Her children came over with their children and we had a nice visit. Friday we were up and out the door, left a note gone for a little drive. We left at 8:00 and returned around supper. New Brunswick travel in one of their travel books gives a scenic driving map. It is made up of 5 different routes, so we thought we drive for a bit and follow the map, wedid the Acadian coastal drive and needless to say we finished almost the entire route. Turning back at Port Elgin and leaving Sacville as the only place ... read more

Sunday, June-26-11 Miramichi River We spent the day relaxing around the cabin on the Miramichi River. Our friends’ brother and father both showed up in the morning to fly fish for salmon on the river. Paul was very excited about the fishing and really wanted to try. Within a short time, the father had caught a salmon and gave it to us for dinner. Technically it is not called a salmon. Up to about 24” it is called a Grilse. Over that in size it is considered a salmon but you have to catch and release them. This one was almost too big to keep. It was very tasty for dinner. We only ate half of it. Claude started Paul fishing with a fly on the end of a regular rod, but with the light weight ... read more

It has been over six weeks since I made my return back to my hometown in Canada. Over the course of this period of time I have caught up with friends and family, watched my life come to a stand still as minutes turned into uneventful days and melancholic weeks. There has been some good road-trips (Cape Breton), and it was fun to celebrate my birthday on home turf. When I booked my flight home I kept in mind that I wanted to celebrate Halloween in Canada. Last year I spent Halloween in south island New Zealand where it is not widely celebrated, so this year I was looking forward to the commercial holiday of Halloween in Canada. I wanted to dress up, drink and have fun with my friends. This year one might have seen ... read more

7:15 am Melbourne to Sydney, 9:30 am Sydney to Vancouver, 9:00 am Vancouver to Toronto, and 9:35pm delayed til 10:35pm Toronto to Moncton. All flights departing on September 13th due to crossing so many time zones. It was 1 am Tuesday morning when I stepped off the little plane and onto New Brunswick ground. I was met by my parents and my sister at the baggage carrousel of the little airport. We still had a bit of a drive to get me to my final destination for the day. Arrived to my parents house at around 3 am, jet lagged, hungry and in a sort of daze, not comprehending the time of day or much else. Still lost somewhere in shades of grey that lie between unconsciousness and consciousness that I find while on long haul ... read more

Hi All!!! A great time!!! Nova Scotia and PEI, and yes a few miles on the Cabot trail with the famous PEI red dirt. And oh the potatoes!!! Got the shuttle across the Confederation bridge, 12.9 kms long. Unfortunately is was raining and foggy!!! For the most part I've been following the Acadian trail up the coast of NB. It's like being in France, rare to hear English in the campgrounds! My plan at this point is to cross into Quebec and take Rt 132 across the Gaspe Penninsula to the St Lawrence. Supposed to rain tomorrow though, so maybe I'll hangout in Campbellton and see if I can add some photos to this blog. So far the travelling has been great, the people have been great, and the black flies so so, lots of DEET!) ... read more

Another day spent along the Miramichi River. It's such a peaceful spot; so quiet. We visited with Uncle Eddie and Aunt Jessie again, took some great pictures of the landscape and even stopped by the Glendening (Clendening) farm. It turns out that the MacDonald's are cousins to the Glendening's. So it turns out that we have Clendenings on both sides of the family. Tonight we met Tammy (Uncle Eddie's daughter) and her two children Samantha and Sean. Even though it has been a couple of years since we have been up to see them, the kids got together just like they were together every day. They instantly had things in common; Sean with his Yu-gi-oh! cards, Sam with her Gameboy and Cannon with his PSP. Even though there is an age difference (Sean-7, Sam-13, Cannon-10) they ... read more
