We got up and lazed around the house in the morning before collecting Megan from college. Then we met up with Ashleigh and headed out for some lunch. In the afternoon we drove out to Wolfville (the valley!). We headed to Megan's parents house and then to the a place called the look off, which is up a high hill with great views of the town below. The views are absolutely stunning at this time of year with the leaves changing colour. In the evening we headed out for some drinks in Megan's local watering hole, Paddy's pub which served some funny tasting beers from its own micro brewery! ... read more

We had plans to be on the road before 9am for the 14 hour drive but failed miserably and ended up leaving at around 10.45. It was Norman the Nissan's 1st big run out so we were a little apprehensive but he trundled through and made it with no problems. The I95 is a very long road and we headed back up north through Norman's home, Maine! We had been told many stories over the summer about northern maine and what it was like so were pretty excited to see what it was like. Driving up you didn't see cars anywhere! Just before the boarder crossing to Canada we past a big truck with a trailer. As we came closer we saw people standing around the trailer and then we noticed that the hunters had shot ... read more

Hello Everyone! It has been awhile since I have written, however I am now home in New Brunswick. I was expecting to be in Kenya until September, but with a persisting cough brought on by viral asthma, I have come home alittle early to get better and figure out my next adventure. Thank you for reading my blogs, I have thoroughly enjoyed your feedback. I hope in some way I have shed some light on issues that often go unseen. I won't be using this blog site anymore so if you want to contact me you can reach me at my usual address- ecdrk@mta.ca Take care, Emily... read more

We left Prince Edward Island via Confederation Bridge, then enjoyed two days of driving through New Brunswick. After some non-descript highways we took quiet country roads and two river ferries through the pretty lower St John River valley, arriving in Fredericton where it was Saturday night mayhem at the restaurants and cinemas. The next day we drove the upper St John River valley, calling on the longest covered bridge (182m) in the world at Hartland, then the Potato World Museum, where a lovely young lady Jane took us on a surprisingly interesting tour. The Museum is at Florenceville, world HQ of McCains and therefore french fry capital of the world. Then on to Quebec to stay the night in the town of Riviere du Loup. We saw no moose on our travels but were constantly warned ... read more

My whole week, it seemed, was leading up to tomorrow. Tomorrow is mail day. The day I have been waiting for. The day I receive the package I have been anticipating for months! Unfortunately, someone decided that I don’t need it and mailed it to where I will be next week. That’s unfortunate for two reasons: first, because it adds another whole week of waiting. And also, because it also contains something for Kyle, which means I’ll have to mail it to him in another country. Oh well. We shall overcome. The crew today was super fast! The ME rocked, so I could let him focus the electrics while others did FOH and I did booms. We make a record… completely done with everything (lights and carpentry) at 2 and a half hours! Kyle was done ... read more

We had a show yesterday on Prince Edward Island. Union house- it was pretty good, though a few things took a really long time. I was quite clever all day, but my best one-liner, I feel, was in response to a question asked of Kyle. The ME asked him, “Where did you pick up your accent?” Before Kyle could answer, I jumped in, “He got it on eBay for $29.95.” Kyle didn’t think it was funny, but everyone else did. One of the guys with the local worked in Spokane for Expo 76! While we were unloading the truck on the road, someone inquired about my wearing shorts. He asked where I was from and I told him. He looked again and said, “You should be colder.” From what I hear, it’s still snowing on and ... read more

Good Day Folks, Have spent the last 6 weeks on course on the East Coast with lots of snow and bitter cold. This was a first time in a long time spending any amount of time in a real winter, and I give the New Brunswickers credit for toughing it out there. Flying out soon back to the West Coast where the toque, parkas and gloves will go back in the rubbermaid container. Hope all is well with everyone, and will be on the move again in the next month. In mid-February of last year for want of anything better to do, I took up my roommate's invitation to go to a postcard writing workshop. As I was with my roommate, we arrived late (I'm not aware that he has ever actually been on time for anything in his life.) When we got there the class was in the midst of introducing themselves. I am not one to think that everyone who travels has to go off to far off exciting places, rather that traveling gives us a point of view which allows us to explore our world in a different way. It was clear though from the group assembled that there was a lack of real travelers, mostly cabin fever riddled people who wanted to get out of the house on a dreary winter ... read more

Hey all, Michael took me to his hometown in the Canadian province of New Brunswick, in the Eastern side of the country. We first flew to Halifax in Nova Scotia via Boston, and drove roughly four hours to the capital of New Brunswick - Fredericton. Fredericton is famous for its beautiful scenery, located at the bank of St. John River. We managed to stop by in two university campuses: University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University, and then a quick detour to the City Hall in the historical district of Fredericton. That's all for now! - Cy... read more

A very cold and snowy hello from Canada! Firstly i have to tell you that i wrote this a few days ago but couldn't publish it for some reason so it may seem a few days out! The final entry will come on Monday. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Its been one hell of a trip from New Jersey but i am finally here! As many of you may have noticed the bad weather seems to be following me round the world! In Thailand i hit Monsoon season, It snowed in Southern Australia, was cold the whole two weeks in Sydney and they "hadn't had fog like it for years" in LA! It rained for 4 days straight in New Jersey so i wondered, as it was already snowing there, what on earth could happen in Canada? Going back a ... read more
