Hello Rotary!!! The first 2 weeks of my exchange have been absolutely amazing!! I have already had many new experiences, Such as cow tipping, herding cows, and eating amazing food. My host family is very nice and hospitable. My first day in Denmark was spent in Faaborg with my host family’s grandparents and my host mom and my host sister. We went grocery shopping and to my new school, the grocery shopping was not much different from back home, but the school was, it’s small with a student populace of about 250 kids compared to my old school back home which had 1700 kids, but it’s nice not having to run in-between two buildings. Day 113 (Tuesday 11/08/09, NJJ) Neither of us slept well at all last night. It rained all night and I expected to wake up floating on my inflatable bed in the morning. The traffic from a neary road was also very noisy. AND I was also woried about bears. Luckily the tent held out and there was only a little water inside. Around 7am Jamie went for a drive to the supermarket whilst I tried to get some more sleep - except I couldn't get bears out of my mind. We showered and packed up leaving around 10.30am. I embark the 31st of July and am currently filled with many emotions. It seems like such a short time ago that I was filling out applications and going through very daunting interviews. I can truthfully say I still remember the perspiration in the palms of my hands and the shakiness of my voice when trying to answer questions like "What would you do if you arrived at a sauna with your host family and you were very excited because this is a big family tradition, but when you enter the sauna everyone is naked" or " What would you do if your host mother was coming one to you?" May24 Train: Vancouver to Kamloops, Rocky Mountaineer Gold Leaf Hotel: Kamloops Towne Lodge We had asked if we could get on the bus shuttle to the train station as many people on the train were also staying at the Fairmont. They wanted $20 apiece though so we decided to catch a cab instead. The bright orange Prius cab only took a few minutes to get to the Rocky Mountaineer station (they have their own station separate from the CPR passenger terminal) through the deserted Sunday morning streets. We hadn't had time to grab breakfast and had hoped there was something to eat at the station, unfortunately they only had coffee. There are separate checkin lines for Gold Leaf and Red Leaf passengers; the Gold Leaf one seemed to take forever with only a few people ahead ... read more

Niagara Falls - Absolutely breath taking. The size of them is amazing, the amount of water that flows over the edge is just brilliant as well. If ever in the region of Canada, go and see them as they are spectacular. However if asked if you want to go behind the falls- say no! as yuo queue (line up i shuold say) for agesss to seee something that isnt that great! Georgetown was great - really nice to spend a load of timewith my family. Tiny town but great fun. Went to Toronto Zoo which was good as well, huge spaced out park with healthish looking animals. Hello I am Kolby and I am leaving to Hawaii on march 17th it will be exciting we come back on April 1st . In between those days I will be doing lots of stuff like the first day we leave we will be going to Vancouver we get to see my Uncle Jim he lives in Vancouver we will be havening dinner with him.
