So after taming the Kicking Horse River, Shazza and I continued our tour around Banff National Park, where it snowed overnight on the mountains. I did a great hike up above Lake Moraine and the Valley of the 10 Peaks (10 mountains all over 3,000 metres in one valley), where we had to hike in groups of 4+ due to the grizzlies in the area. Afterwards was the first time that others have ridden in Shazza with me. We both knew it was going to happen at some point, but we wouldn't have picked it to be a nice, old Japanese couple who were also heading back to Lake Louise. What was even stranger was the fact they insisted on giving us $20 for the ride. We felt kind of dirty, that is until it went ... read more

We started our day in Lake Louise by driving to the Emerald Lake. This was only a short drive away, but is in Yoho National Park, which is in the state of British Columbia, rather than Alberta where we had been to date. We had seen some stunning scenery whilst we had been in the Rockies, but this was our favourite, with the mountains reflecting in this emerald-green water. It was also really peaceful and there was a circular trail which you could follow all the way around the lake. One half of the walk was warm and open, the other half was through rainforest and so was significantly cooler. Our son also apparently saw a bear print in the mud, but he didn’t tell the rest of us until we heard some other people talking ... read more

After a cappuccino, and some WiFi time it was back on the truck and on the way to Lake Louise. We stopped at Lake Louise Mall to get info about bus travel for Jill who is returning to England. From the Mall Lake Louise was 45 min away to the lake and a ½ km to the camp site. This night was spent at a campsite inside an electrified fence. On the way to the showers a grizzly with two cubs was seen outside the electric fence. We all watched until it became dark. The bear count has reached over 20 since the beginning of the trip. The morning wakeup was early so that the 7:00 bus could be met by four of our group. I went with the truck so that I could have ... read more

Prince Rupert to Lake Louise Coming out of Alaska after Ketchikan was another long ferry ride with similar views and one small black dot that was supposedly a whale. Even the people with binoculars did not see much more. The Road from Prince Rupert to Prince George was again a continuation of wooded hills and snow capped peaks, BUT they were Canadian and therefore more beautiful to my eyes. It is the combination of sky, snow green Sitka spruce, spring green aspen and rushing Fraser River that made the whole spectacular. In 1972 the Fraser River flooded. This year the spring runoff is reaching record heights again. As we drove we noticed the river waters were so high that some trees and shrubs seemed to be growing out of the water. In some places fields ... read more

WI4-5,120m,walk off,20minuts aproch // march 25th ,climb with poul,right side,WI4or4+//27th ,climb with sam,middle left side,WI4+ 「アイス クライミング」って知ってますか?

Yep that's right I handed in my resignation last night. My official last day of work is April 12th and i'm catching the bus to Vancouver the next day with my buddies. We're all counting down the days and working as much as we can while we can. So that means i'm working every day of this schedule (7 of 7) which means over time hours and also I don't go out as much so i'm saving on that too. Anyone who's been to Vancouver please send me suggestions on what is worth seeing. We are all trying to get as many snowboarding days in as we can too. Soon we won't have a beautiful mountain two steps away from where we live. Between all this overtime and snowboarding i'm exhausted and need a day off ... read more
