Three long years have passed since my last big trip, to Spain with stops in Paris & Amsterdam, and what I've learned is that three years is far too long to wait to travel . . . and I'm not talking a "vacation" or a long weekend out to B.C. or even a lost weekend in Vegas. I mean honest-to-goodness travel that expands your mind, your horizons, your perspectives, and if you must, your wallet. So three weeks from now as I sit on a jet flying over the Atlantic (hopefully next to somebody who lists personal hygiene in their top 10 important things in life), thinking about the five weeks ahead of me in England and Greece, I will probably be contemplating the following deep, thought-provoking topics that most world travelers find weigh heavy on ... read more

Hello and welcome to our travel blog! Currently, we are still at home in Edmonton/Spruce Grove. We just thought we'd set up our blog as we are going to be VERY busy in the coming weeks. This weekend is Easter, next weekend we will hopefully have a new home for Dennis (and me in 8 months!) to get started on renovations, and then we have a wedding and a retreat! BUSY! We are leaving April 30th for a month of travels in Greece and Italy. We are starting off in Athens before hitting the Cyclades islands for 3 weeks until we fly to Rome for a week in the eternal city (and a couple days in Tuscany!). Currently, Dennis is finishing up his masters in structural engineering at the University of Alberta, as well as working ... read more

Well just looked out the window and it is snowing again, guess Canada is making sure that we never want to come back to another winter!!! Guess we should be enjoying it since it may be the last one we ever see... I do not think so! Each snowflake makes us happier about our big move!... read more

I apologise for the lack of photos however as I have previously mentioned, LA was WAY too smoggy and Canada… well all I’ve seen so far is rain! Amongst me freezing my bum off, Canada has been reasonable good. It is very much like Australia in a lot of way’s but in particular just how the people are… friendly & just generally nice which was a HUGE change from that of LA and Hollywood. So, I guess to start where I left off.. Arrived in LA, my hostel was in Hollywood which was pretty cool. There is not all the much to tell other than yeah I had a good time in amongst the smog & the homeless people begging for money everywhere! It was as bad as you only had to cross the road ... read more

So, I am about to embark on my first international adventure ever! And it is all happening so FAST! I applied to go and teach english at the end of January. Its something I have always wanted to do and seeing as though I am not ready to go back to University or have any other life changing events going on right now, I thought it would be smart to apply. However, I did not think that I would be leaving in less than 30 days! Good thing I already had my passport and that the visa process actually isn't that difficult. Other than my whole world being turned upside down (I thought I would be leaving in like three months or so...) I am overwhelmed with excitement and sense of adventure...for those of you that ... read more

Edmonton, icicles and secret caves... Well it's good to see a familiar face for the first time in 5 months. After darting all around the place in Europe, Anthony called in for a visit. First couple days we did the usual thing and slept in until around midday, although i did manage to show him around my work and have a quick swim in the heated pool! We made it up to 'Old Fort Point' for a view of the area, this being the first time i actually made it since off the path galabanting didn't work out last time... The mountain sheep were pretty tame but i wasn't quite ready to jump on for a ride. Snowboarding on Marmot the following day was alright, but we still need some fresh powder as hard packed ... read more
