...and Voila I am in Israel . I must say that I am very pleased that I was able to use a bus to travel here . The Trust company has a service that worked well for me . Two 1/2 hours to the border crossing at the Jordan River /Sheik Hussein crossing , exit Jordan ( luggage xray and passport control ) and another bus drove me and my luggage the 2 km to the Israelie border . Again through luggage xray ,passport control and out the other side where a taxi was waiting to drive me to Nazareth . All this in @ 4 hours for 30JD $65-70Can. Not bad . Again I am struck by the contrasts . On the ride into Nazareth (45 minutes) looking around at the lush fields , orchards ... read more

Nazareth is located 20 kilometers from Tivon (where i live). Nazareth is an arab-christian city with a beautiful Basillica it is known as the city Jesus grew up in. Me and Roee went there for a couple of hours. The traffic was absoloutey horrible in the center. After having finally parked our car we went to the town square which was next to a little roundabout. Nazareth wasn't really 'all that' in my eyes. After visiting the The Church of the Annunciation (which is the most famous sight) we took a walk through the market, which was very similair to the arab market in Jerusalem. After having seen the The Church of the Annunciation, The Church of St. Joseph's Carpentry and the market we went for a drink. And that is about it of what there ... read more

Saturday, Oct. 4: Until today the only news we could get was Aljazeera in English; very interesting. The weather today was 89 and very clear. We drove today from Jerusalem to the Galilee district. Highway one, a super highway, was build along the old border between Israel and Jordan. We went through the Jezreel Valley, an agricultural district. The Israelis use modern, scientific farming methods on flat land. The Arabs are left with stoney slopes some of which have been terraced since Biblical times. It is the beginning of harvest for olives and cotton, quite a contrast in methods. The first stop was Nazareth, the Church of the Annunciation. It is supposedly built over the grotto/house in which Mary lived. Nazareth is now predominately Arab Muslim; until recently it was Arab Christian. On the way we ... read more

Today we embarked on a day long tour of Galilee. A few highlights: 1.) Many of the Bethel family came out onto the sidewalk to greet us. There are 30 members, serving about 1,300 Witnesses, but they had 2,800 at the Memorial. They gave us back issues in Hebrew. 2.) In Caesarea, we saw the Hippodrome, Herod's Palace, and the very room where Paul appealed his detention to Caesar. 3.) Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal to a contest on Mount Carmel. After they failed to arouse Baal to accept their sacrifice, Elijah drenched his altar with fire. Then, with a single prayer, fire from heaven devoured the offering and the altar itself. Elijah and his men then executed the false prophets of Baal. 4.) An army of 32,000 was reduced to 10,000, then down to ... read more

Hello again!!! (lol...I know I just sent out an e-mail like 30 minutes ago). This weekend my friends Aidan, Leslie, Aly, Kelly, and I traveled to Jerusalem and Nazareth. I am planning on writing a long blog entry about all my trips to Jerusalem together so I will just update you on the day we spent in Nazareth. We arrived on Friday the 7th right before the start of Shabbath and checked into the Sisters of Nazareth Convent for the night. We were trilled to have heat as it has gotten rather cold at night and it was raining. We spent about 30-40 min. wondering around the city at night trying to find Tishreen, a medieval style, restaurant. Aly, Kelly, and I decided to spend the rest of the night reading and going to bed as ... read more

Hey, It’s Magen, for anyone who don’t know the name I’m maoz’s lil bro and now a proud resident of the FAI. A brief history of my doings last year: I got off the army service around mid march, after 3 long years, joined the family business of greenhouses until last weekend, and for the last 5 days I’m in Nazareth, trying to find my place in this unique city. I’m going to be here for the next few months and manage the place so that Maoz will have more time to take care of his growing family, and concentrate more on the marketing aspects of the inn. So… since now I live here I think I’ll take over Maoz’s blog for a while… The last weekend (28.11.05) was very special for us at the Fauzi ... read more

Hi there, This update is going to be in a formal form, letting you now what's going on and filling what you miss since the last post. I'm in Tel Aviv, the first Saturday that I spent at home with Shlomit since we opened the Inn. Spending the time resting and making room for the baby who should come in 2 month and a half. Shlomit is getting bigger and bigger and we are both excited as can be accepted. Shlomit is feeling good though the nights are not going as smoothly as before with the baby kicking and rocking. The staff at the Inn is up to 4. My young beloved brother Magen came to help and support us for 2-3 month before taking off for his travelling. Vladi's brother is also here what makes ... read more
