Running in Nice, France
Fountain in central Nice Places where we have been known to run
We enjoy running very much so we try to run regularly both when we are at home and when we are on vacation. We find that running is a good way to stay in shape and a also great way to do sightseeing. We usually carry a camera with us on our sightseeing runs and some of the photos we have taken over the years we have now collected in this blog entry. All the photos are of us when we are running in different places in some of the countries we have visited over the last couple of years. So if you are not interested in two middle aged Swedes trying to find the perfect stride in various locations, some famous most not, there really is very little point in looking further into this blog entry than you already have. Feel free to skip it all if you like. We won't be offended, we promise. If someone posted a blog entry with pictures of themselves playing chess we doubt that we would bother reading it.
A few of the photos further down you have been able
to see elsewhere on this blog but most of them are new. We haven't set up any specific rules regarding which photos to include and which photos to delete. We try to include a variation of places and every now and then we try to get something interesting in the background. Sometimes we run in the picture and sometimes we stop and pose when it is taken.
For those of you who are not runners we can tell you that the runner community is not very unlike a sect. One thing that makes us runners different from real sects is that we happily admit that the runner community resembles a sect and we can make jokes about it. Just like in other sects we post pictures and quotes on FaceBook that shows that we (the runners) are right and that the others are wrong. "The others" are those who don't do sport at all. We are in general very tolerant against all other athletes. We have below collected a few runner quotes we have seen on FaceBook
"Running is like the mafia. Once you're in - your in. There's no getting out"
”I do not run to add days to my life, I run to add life to my days”
"Sometimes people ask me 'Why are you running?' Then I say 'Why did you stop?'"
"Don’t ask me why I run, ask yourself why you don’t"
"Running...Is my mental Ctrl+Alt+Delete"
Songs that are about running are often popular among runners. Example of such songs are
Born To Run - Bruce Springsteen
Keep On Running - Spencer Davies Group
Run Like Hell - Pink Floyd
Run to the Hills - Iron Maiden
Wonder what the World would be like if all songs were about running... Then we would have songs with the following titles
You Give Run a Bad Name - Bon Jovi
Running Queen - ABBA
We Will Run You - Queen
Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Run - The Beatles
(I´m on a) Highway to Run - AC/DC
and last but not least
Running all over the World - Status Quo
because that is what we do...

Running on Empty
This is a fine song and album by Jackson Browne from my California--I hope you don't have to run on empty too often. I adore this blog! So great to share your passion, which of course, we were aware of from your other blogs. I'm a back-country hiker, and not really a cult or group like you runners, but your Albania run reminded me of my kind of spots. And Emma ran 56 km--i didn't even walk that far daily when I walked the 800 km of the Camino (Jakob's Weg) in Spain. Hey--that would be a fun run!
