That’s what I remember about Wales. Grey slate, grey houses, grey landscape and grey rain. Taking into account our recent experience in Cornwall and Graeme’s derisive comments about Summer in the UK I wasn’t about to have any other expectations. It’s good to be proved wrong sometimes. The Welsh flags were fluttering proudly on the castle’s towers as we walked across the bridge to Conwy. This blog should have had some lovely photographs of Bodnant Gardens, the victorian house, the Pin Mill,the lily ponds and the summer flowering long beds however ............the battery on the camera was flat and guess who forgot to take the mobile phone to take photos. We only realised when we got there and both of us said "Well get the camera out then" How many times do you get somewhere and realise you have forgotten something. We are missing the motorhome life desperately. It has been difficult to settle in at home to the much larger living space, the bigger bed and going back to normality and work. Excuse the deceiving place. That's not actually where we are. It's a wild guess and is around 100 miles off I believe. Sorry, also, for the long wait. It's been a while since we had internet, and when we did I squandered my time... So here's the story. Tuesday, July 19. Our campground ordered us a taxi to a train station, and we took the train into London to the Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. We spent nearly 3 hours inside the Tower of London, looking at the different exhibits, along with various armour pieces and torture devices. Once that was done it was past lunchtime, so we got ourselves some fish and chips from a stand. It was absolutely fantastic. I hope the fish&chips trend catches on in N. America. ...follow every rainbow 'till you find your dream... Een terugkerend liedje in m'n hoofd afgelopen week tijdens een fantastische wandelweek in Snowdonia. Deze startte met een overnachting in Liverpool in een hostel met wietgeur en een jongen die 's ochtends een half uur op de wc zat met een t-shirt over z'n hoofd, maar de bedden sliepen prima en we vonden onze weg de volgende ochend goed richting treinstation. We zijn met de trein naar Betws-Y-Coed gereden en hebben daar nog wat boodschappen gedaan en flessen met water gevuld, voordat we al wandelend langs een rivier naar de Swallow Falls vertrokken. Een mooi paadje langs de rivier, maar de watervallen waren een beetje een desillusie. I'm not in Betws-y-coed, but close by - the Tyn-y-coed in Capel Curig. Have just added a map to this entry. Wish there was a way to highlight the bits that are driving as opposed to the bits that are hiking. Guess I'll have to leave that to your powers of deduction, if there's no road, it's probably hiking ;-) So, the day dawned with patchy sunshine and cloud dangling on the hills at about 1800ft. Every summit on today's trek is above 2000ft so there's likely to be some navigation in cloud.
