Wow, so I was asleep before we even took off yesterday. That never happens...I love take off. I always stay awake for take off, no matter how tired I am. That's impressive. However, I have found one good thing to being cosseted and fawned over by my fellow travellers (I don't know why they do it, but they always seem to want to take care of me for some reason...). The Scottish guy sitting next to me ended up moving over one seat, and he and the flight attendant put pillows all over the middle seat, laid me down and covered me with blankets, it was cool. Apparently Jane told them what a harrowing day I had getting from Peace River to Calgary. They tell me that I woke up for the in-flight meal, but you ... read more

Introduction Well, off to the next big adventure. I'm afraid that the biggest challenge on this one was to keep my wallet firmly in my back pocket. With the pound stirling currently equal to about 1.8 US dollars, my wallet kept trying to lift itself from my pants and fly into the hands of surrounding merchants. Not to worry, I managed to escape with my shirt still on my back despite a missed flight and a detour through a country I wasn't planning on visiting this weekend...but I think it's best if I leave that story for a later blog. The Flight Left Gent bright and early and headed to the "Brussels" airport. I'll just go ahead and say something about a little airline that, in order to avoid a lawsuit, I will refer to as ... read more

UNBELIEVABLE! I WENT TO GLASGOW!!! You have NO idea how exciting this was for me... when I flew in I was just looking at these gorgeous country sides with beautiful beaches and rugged terrain and I seriously wanted to cry. Once there of course I was just blown away. I thought Dublin was something? Glasgow was even BETTER! The first afternoon we just kind of explored Buchannon street and the galleries (shops) and then headed for Andrews flat. The architecture is phenomenal. Every building has a history and the detailed work would just blow you away. Andrew took us to Glasgow Uni after that... the place looks like a castle from harry potter; absolutely incredible. I actually ran up to it and put my hands on it cause I was so excited (its from the ... read more

This blog update is not quiet as exciting as the others- I havent left Glasgow since my last 'skiing adventure' but am trying to see as much of my new hometown as I can. The weather here has been up and down alot over the past month- I have seen snow, sun and lots of rain but its starting to warm up now :) Glasgow has just implemented a smoking ban on pubs, restaurants and bars so no more reaking of tobacco- which will be great! My job at PDQ is still going great- its nice to have the extra cash flow at the end of every month. The people I work with are all great and have taught me lots about the local culture- stuff I would never learn in class. The teachers union is ... read more

we're getting the last bit of laundry dried and all geared up for st. patty's day. i'm really hoping that one of my shirts with green on it dries in time because i am a wee bit frightened that if i don't have green, the whole city of dublin will be pinching me all day. most people look at us like we are nuts when we say we're spending st.patty's in dublin, ireland but i suppose it isn't the first time people have given us strange looks. we'll be staying in a hotel, the first and only time on this trip, since all of the hostels were completely booked. today, saturday, and the first part of sunday we'll be in dublin exploring the luck of the irish ( i will of course be wearing my notre ... read more

here's a wee update for a wee bit of entertainment. see, we've discovered that "wee" is used as commonly as "a" or "an" in the scotish dialect. naturally, tony has taken upon himself to have a true scotish accent by friday. best of luck to him. we could not have asked for a better trip so far. our jet lag has been minimal and our days spectacular. thanks to tony's friend in london, anthony, we toured london and saw all of the sights and not-so-touristy sights within two days. the weather has been colder then we expected but we've made due and persevered through the chilly wind and 5 degree celsius air. you can bet we make frequent stops for hot coffee and hot chocolate to heat up our insides. we even managed to see a ... read more

That's it - i've just sent my last e-mail and officially finished up at Intense. I'm sad to leave but excited (and anxious!) at the prospect of working in a ski resort and then going on my travels. Got some lovely pressies from my colleagues and managed to run away before shedding any tears (only just!). I am wishing everyone the best of luck and sure i will be hearing of them in the headlines when they are doing really well.... read more
