Heathrow Airport’s immigration and custom was a breeze. The tube (London subway), priced accordingly to districts covered, is an extensive and excellent subway system. District one and two ticket is perfect to cover our trip in-and-about London, and it costs £21 for one full week. We met several interesting people at our first tube ride, including two Americans from Boston and Tennessee who advise us not to skip Edinburgh, and a burly Norwegian lady who scared us at first because she looked like about to swallow us alive when she asked whether we’re from the States (later on, she advised us to take off our American Airlines tags that were still hanging off from our backpacks, that identify us as Americans). The USA has no popularity in the world lately due to the recently started Iraqi ... read more

We've decided to go travelling after many many months of indecisions ... bugger it, only once in a life time opportunity etc etc ... and we really need to have some time away from things, see if what we really want in life is real, dn't know how long we'll be, not making any definite plans! Today is 9th May 2003 and we received all our travel gear this morning, woooooo it' so kool! Got our backpaks, sleeping bags, tent, waterproofs, travel eating utensils, some walking shoes, travel first aid kit, travel water filter, loads of stuff. Only got to get a couple of small things like a solar powered battery recharger/power unit, which obviously uses solar power to charge our rechargable batteries, but it also doubles up as a power point for any electrical stuff ... read more

full circle back to where we started. it was nice because we had one last night in london and we were lucky enough to get half-price tickets to see Les Mis. I've already seen it before and Teresa's seen in 6072 times, but we wanted to see it in London. the show was great but the theater was old and cramped. once again, knees against the chair or torso twisted sideways?? its good to be back in my large comfortable office chair. i'm glad america is obsessed with making things unnecessarily big - like SUVs, homes, and office chairs. REFLECTIONS =========== we've learned lots of things about europe, and about ourselves. that's the great thing about traveling. here are some things we'd like to comment on: * we love america for having FREE toilets. yes, FREE. ... read more

phew!!! just wanted to let y'all know that teresa and andy finally made it london. in fact, we are completely done with our london touring segment. we could easily go on and on about how much we've seen and how much fun we are having... but we don't want to bore you too much, and we are actually pretty damn tired. we finally found an internet cafe after walking our asses off around the city. its past midnight and we leave for amsterdam at 6:45AM in the morning, so we need some shuteye. nevertheless, we want to give you a quick update: yesterday, we arrived EARLY morning after our painful 12 hour red-eye flight from SFO. we immediately hit the streets. first stop was st. paul's cathedral. for tourism? no, no, no. for mass!! what triumphant ... read more

Just a quick note to advise that I have arrived safely back in the UK and made it through my first 2 weekends and a week of work. Lets just say after 4 months off work proved a small shock to the system as the mass of grey matter which resides in my head was forced for the first time in a while to think!!!! Before starting work though I had a couple days to aclimatise......what better way than a session at the Temple walkabout to celebrate Australia Day......started early, went late and woke up with a sore head! The other thing which I had to get used to was the fact that it was cold. Having not experienced cold weather (aside from 3 days in Dublin in Oct) since May 02, this has proven to ... read more

After our long holiday in South Africa it was time to head back to the U.K and start working again..blah.. For the first 3 weeks we stayed by our friends Kate & James in their cottage on box Hill while we looked for new jobs. (little did we know that in a years' time we would be staying in the cottage next door working for the same family as Kate worked for!) After 3 weeks we started working at a 4 star Golf course hotel in Croydon, Le Meridian Selsdon Park Hotel, about 13 miles from London. We first stayed in their staff accomadation block, this was a little dodgy and we weren't happy sharing 1 shower and a toilet with about 15 other people..The staff came from all over, South Africa, Poland, Turkey, Greece, Spain, ... read more

Monday (Temp. 2deg. Windchill -9deg) fine. Went on 'Original Tour' London sightseeing bus 9:30am - 11am. Got off, had McDonald's. Got back on, went to Tower of London 11pound50 entry, tour bus back to Trafalgar Square. Hotel is very central. Had a nap after changing rooms again (bad smell like dead rat). Fire alarm went off 3 times! Met Jules and Roberto in Irish bar, Callaghan's, downstairs for drinks. Jules looks so London and sounds like Kylie Minogue. Knee starting to get sore. Forgot to have dinner. Lost gloves in rush of packing & fire alarm.... read more

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to try everything life has to offer, I have done a bungee jump (read my Rhodes blog), sky dived (read my 'Skydive to raise money for charity in 1999....when I was 16 years old!' blog), scad dived (a free fall of 150 feet in to a net, I did this at the end of a pier in Blackpool, England), sky surfed (read my Rhodes blog) now to conquer the sky completely I needed to wing walk (if there is anything I haven't listed please let me know I WANT TO DO IT! lol). It wasn’t as straight forward as book your appointment, pay your money, do it, I had to pay for a year’s membership to an aviation club and then pay for the wing walk ... read more
