If there is one thing you can count on when heading to a weekend music festival in the UK, it is massive traffic jams on the motorway to get there. Download festival should be a 2 hour drive from London, 4 hours later, we had the car parked and did the mad dash carrying the tent and backpacks and madly setting up so to get out there and get a good spot for the Friday night headliner - AC/DC! Being a little late we ended up camping on a very hard patch of dirt that was on a slope - it was going to take some serious drinking to get comfortable on that spot! We got set up right on time to run to the main arena, a natural sloping ampitheatre-type field with 80,000 thousand others ... read more

So I have been here for exactly a week now, and what a fun week it has been!!! London was awesome, Clariss and Ben organised a surprise of all my old work mates from my time in Ilford to meet us for drinks, had a great night! We had a delicious spanish tapas feed in Covent Garden, then went to a bar where we drank beers and danced, was heaps of fun! On Saturday Tiss and I completely smashed Oxford St, in particular Primark - oh my it is the hugest most amazingly cheap and awesome shop!!! It was huge and bustling and the queues to try things on are so long you either do it in the middle of the shop, or cross your fingers and try it on when you get home.. hehe bought ... read more

Friday 9.4.2010 day 177 We sold our car, it got us all around Europe 32 countries in one car! Today we set out to sell our car before we fly out or Europe and to Canada. We had it for 5 months and we did 22,000 miles and 32 countries. We paid about £3,000 for it and we sold it for £1,500 we could have got more if we sold it privately but we did not have time to do that £1,500 for the time and Miles we did is very good I think. We could not have hired one cheaper and having our own car made it easier to get around. The only money we spent on it was £10 to make it ready for EU and about £470 on a service and new tires. ... read more

Did I mention we were going on our jollies? Our primary reason for compiling this blog was for friends and family to keep up with us and to share our experiences, but of course we hope that fellow travellers enjoy our entries too. It's currently February 21st and there's snow on the ground in our hometown. In just over a week we'll be in the tropics. Excellent. We've been planning this trip for a few months now and have conducted a lot of research and changed our itinerary a dozen times. We've finally made the decision to stick to Bangkok, Samui, Koh Pha Ngan and Phuket with a few little off-shoots in between. Maybe we're a bit old and sad in making all these preps in advance and plans to follow the typical tourist trail but, ... read more
