Onneksi kielitaitoni puutteellisuus esti minua ymmartamasta kaikkia nyansseja. Illalla lahdimme viela kaupungille. Ensin poikkesimme siiderilla yhdessa baarissa ja menimme sitten taksilla toiseen baariin, jossa oli Alexin vanhempien tuttuja.... read more

Jatin repun hostelliin sailytykseen. Kavin ensin kavelylla alajuoksulla pain. Olisin jatkanut pidemmallekin, mutta etelarannalla kavelytie loppui, joten palasin takaisin. Junamatka meni rattoisasti: sain ... read more

Friday 27th August 2010 We finally left the country starting in style drinking champagne on the Euro Star and everything was going swimmingly! Our overnight journey from Cologne to Berlin was not a sleeper though. Just as we was about to spread out and get some shut eye others boarded and were booked on the spare seats in our compartment! This then involved some interesting positions trying to sleep! Saturday 28th August 2010 Arrived in Berlin at about 5am in the morning and managed to sweet talk the person at our hotel/hostel which was ace (and right by the sation) to let us have our rooms - o after he sent us to some mans room by mistake tehee! He was very confused as to why 4 women had just walked into his room lol. We ... read more

Travelling can have a huge impact on many aspects of your life. It broadens your horizons and enriches your experiences. I get frustrated with people who feel that travelling is not a sensible way to spend your money and their perception that because you have nothing tangible at the end of it, the money has been wasted. Often these are the same people who will happily buy a new car despite the huge depreciation of its value as soon as it is driven off the forecourt. Obviously travelling leaves you with photographs and memories that will last your lifetime. Then there are the people that you meet and the communities the world over that you begin to connect with. There is the deep-seated realisation ( a confirmation of something many of us feel) that people the ... read more

Day one We left for the airport about 6pm for the flight time of 9.30pm   Check in pretty easy and the only thing to do was to occupy our time for the   next three hrs. Unforunately our first meal was a typical greasy burger king and our first drink was from the classy birmingham airports local   weatherspoon. Travelling in style..... and the reason why I ordered a pims.   After checking the exiciting a-z books in the weathers. Classy. I managed to find   some more change. So more pims.....to get nicely pissed for the plane   journey. The plane journey was fine watched shutter island.... Which rohan and   sean recommend. Brilliant choice. Of course it was. Their judgement is   hardly ever wrong on films. Food wasn't brilliant but I have ... read more

Hello everyone, It is a rainy day here in Coventry and it is quite cool outside which is a big change from the amazing weather of the weekend. I had a wonderful time in Beenham with the Salts. On Saturday we hosted a big BBQ with family and friends of the Salts. There was a wonderful buffet of salads, my favourite being the broccoli with cranberries and sunflower seeds along with chicken and sausages from the BBQ. I had fun playing baseball in the yard and playing with the little kids as they swam in the puddling pool in their swimming costumes (translation: wadding pool in swimsuits). On Sunday we went to Aldermaston Church which is in the village of Aldermaston a few kilometres away. The church was built in 1391 and is situated on a ... read more

Hello everyone! It's tea time here in England and I am sitting in my friend Lynne's House in Beenham, England which is a little town of about a 1,000 people just outside of Reading. I arrived here on the train last night about an hour and a half south of Coventry. I grew up with Lynne's children in Toronto and she and her family have invited me to spend a weekend here with them as my course takes a pause for a few days. I am sorry to have not updated sooner, my course is busy and the internet isn't as accessible or as cheap and I have been enjoying the sights in and around Coventry. Since I last wrote we have been on a few adventures. After our trip to see the performance at the ... read more

Cheerio everyone! Things have been super busy here in the UK! My course has been going very well and the people who are taking it have such amazing life experiences and have shared a lot of valuable resources and insight. My instructor is very upbeat and makes learning both fun, meaningful and interactive! We have been in Coventry for about 6 days now having landed here on Friday last and took a bus from Gatwick. The weather has been amazing, with absolutely no rain in sight as of yet. We are doing our course work at the Coventry Transport Museum. Coventry used to be a major factory town for car production including Jaguars and other fancy cars. The industry has been in decline since the recession but the museum itself is quite impressive. There is even ... read more
