Wish we had a picture of this, but out of the 600+ we took, Buff didn't think it would be a good idea to take one of me being searched at airport security. I guess I haven't flown much since 9/11 and when the security guard looked me straight in the eye and said "you may be required to have additional search, if you do not remove your shoes and outer jacket" I thought he was just saying something they have to say. In retrospect, I wasn't thinking at all. I didn't make the machine alarm as I walked through, but next thing I know, I'm pulled aside, taking off my shoes & jacket waiting for a female to pat me down and sending my shoes and jacket back for their own little trip through the ... read more

Today we got up, checked out of the hostel (which turned out to have really crappy beds, besides the really slow internet that cost £5/$10 an hour, which is ridiculous, and they charged us an extra £3 since we weren't HI members, which was really lame) and started walking to the White Cliffs park. We walked for about 35 minutes around the castle from the city along a really sketchy road with no sidewalks (a little dangerous for a road with tight turns and what seemed to be little enforcement of speeding laws), and then wound up at the cliffs above the harbor (turned out it wasn't even close to 4 miles away, it pretty much starts right outside the city of Dover). After leaving Spain, we spent one more full day at sea frantically packing for debarkation at Dover, on the coast of England. Many passengers left the ship there, so the terminal was busy as a beehive for few hours. Each of the world cruise passengers (or couples) had a limosine for their personal destination, and ours was crammed with our luggage full of clothing and additional treasures from the trip. In the rush we left one of our large bags in the Dover ship terminal. Our driver called his home office when we got to the airport and reported the loss. After that, we could only place our faith in British efficiency and hope for the best.
