BISHOP STORTFORD
After Julia dropped us to the station on another fine day (we were really lucky this week and it felt like summer all over again!), we jumped on the train, changed at Cambridge then got off at another lovely little station in Bishop Stortford. Andy picked us up and as Annie (Liams god daughter) had not been told he was back in the country, let alone coming to visit, there was lots of excitement in the house, after the initial hiding behind legs.
A beer in the garden, then Liam baths both Annie and Alex and reads them stories before sleepy time was upon them. Friday night is Chinese take away night in the Ramsey-Reeder household and they were generous enough to include us in the evenings feast. Full to the very top of our heads we retire to the office which is our temporary haven for the weekend.
Saturday morning was operation happy party! It was Annie’s 6th birthday on the previous Wednesday and she had spent the day at Legoland with the family. However today was the big day when she gets to show off her ’big blue house’ that was her present from
the family, to all of her school mates at her birthday party.
Charlotte helped out with the food stuff and wrapping pass the parcel presents, whilst Liam helped out drinking the beer as Andy had brought two kegs of larger for the adults at the party, oh and also put up a few high up banners!
The children’s entertainer arrived and went in to get made up as we finished off the lunch boxes, what a great and simple idea to ensure everyone gets fed at the same time with minimum fuss and no waste. In no time the children arrived, along with many parents. The adults dug into the beer and the children watched the entertainer as the sun beat down. This I think helped the beers slip down even quicker than normal!
Soon one keg was empty and we were onto keg number two, we had some good chats and debates with our new friends and Andy’s family. And one very shocked guest who had thought, all of these years, that Andy was a Fireman! Imagine his shock when he found out that he was a copper! It will be around the school in no
time! But did we laugh! The party wound up and we were all in bed by 11pm! Liam fully dressed.
The morning came around quickly with all of the heat and intensity of the previous day. We entered the living room to find that Annie had had a great morning opening all of her presents from her party. Sam took the kids off for another birthday party on a train whilst Andy got ready for his interview for the Dog squad. We helped him fix his suitcase as he had to go down to Croydon the night before to prepare for his interview.
Once the kids and Sam were back we said our goodbyes, walked to the station and were soon on our way back to London.
