Hi all! Well we have moved into our flat in Hammersmith which is in West London and in Zone 2 - so pretty close to everything and really very central. The flat is a tiny studio flat but has everything we need and is also in a very central area - underground, supermarkets, etc are all around us. The past few days have been crazy to say the least - we have had SO much to organise, but we are sowly getting there. Well hello there everyone. I thought I would give you all a quick update as to what has been going on these last few weeks here in London. As you have no doubt read or heard, there have been some attempted attacks in the last week, one a car bomb that failed to explode, the other a burning car that went into an airport. Well as much as the media want to make out that this is the biggest thing since 911. There was never any danger of loss of life at any stage, so don’t panic, its all a big media show. Yes, we are finally 'home' in London again after our jaunt up north. Internet access was impossible to get and very expensive when it was available, so apologies for the delay, but here is what we have been up to for the last few weeks! After our trip to Edinburgh we headed to Heathrow to catch a flight to Berlin, in order to meet our Northern Exposure tour. One plane and 4 trains later (darn Berlin public transport!) we arrived at our hostel and met the people we were to spend the next 24 days with. We all had dinner together that night, then had the next day free to explore Berlin. As we had been there before and it was 34 degrees, we had a lazy day wandering the streets. I left Tokyo at 11am, and after a 12 hour flight (had to watch Zoolander again!) arrived at Heathrow at 3.30pm (local time). As you can imagine, you sort of lose your bearings a little with the whole time-zone thing. The time difference between Tokyo and Syd was only an hour so you still cop the full jet lag! Suprisingly, after claiming my luggage at the airport I walked straight through customs. It took me a while to actually realise I was through customs. I expected a fairly rigorous baggage check considering the toughening of baggage restriction laws (thanks for sending the vegemite mum!) and terrorist alerts.
