Lordy, Lordy, Lordy, I am here. After a 7 hour flight & 7 hours at Toronto International Airport I am here! I have not slept in 30 hours so I am almost falling asleep at the keys. I'm at the Globtrotter Inn at Stamford Brook, Hammersmith. It is like an old, old hospital. I haven't seen the rooms yet cause guess what.......I can't check in til 2pm. I got here at 10am. If I had of known that I would have gotten an all day pass for the tube & just rode around to see what's about. But I paid £4 & I don't want to pay another £8. But the day is still young so anything goes. The hostel is groovy, they have a poolroom, cafe, shop, internet cafe, courtyard and best of all a ... read more

The highest point in Middlesex is a covered reservoir near right on the current border of Hertfordshire. Three Valleys Water own the land so I had to persuade one of their manager's to let me go up there. Reluctantly he did and showed me around the site - it was as glamorous as a covered reservoir sounds. When I started this I didn't thing high points would be found in back gardens and on covered reservoirs so it adds some entertainment to the day.... read more

Day 16: April 21 - ICELAND - Reykjavik, ENGLAND - London Accommodation: Globetrotter Inn Hostel, Hammersmith, London I woke up around 11am or midday, packed up my stuff, then carried my bags to the nearest hotel where I was to book an airport shuttle. It was still bitterly cold and overcast as most of my days in Iceland had been. I grabbed a drink, caught my shuttle, and caught my Icelandair flight back to London Heathrow. I was so buggered that I fell asleep on the flight and missed my free meal, but it was no biggie I suppose. After arriving at Heathrow and going back through passport control (my 2nd time and already sick of the lines of people and questions the staff asked me) I was considering sleeping in the airport before a flight ... read more

I had been looking forward to today for a while now. We were going to the Oxford versus Cambridge rowing race, and catching up with friends from back home. Ravi and Matty said they would come in for a look, but Ravi was a late withdrawal, and said he might meet up with us later. This meant we didn't have to catch the train, and could get a lift in with Kez and Rod. Kez dropped us off right at the front of Canada Water station, and then we caught the tube to Hammersmith where we were all going to meet to watch the race. The race didn't start until 16.30, and we were early so we went into a pub for lunch and drinks. They had beers that were stored at room temperature, and still ... read more

Monday---BLC class and then we had the internship class. We watched an episode of the Office, the English version and it was Hilarious!!! And then we had to do mini presentations where we just told everyone where we were working and what not. Nothing too exciting. Tuesday---I was at the House of Commons with Kathleen. She is so cool and in our downtime we facebooked and stuff and then we planned out a time for me to come in the fall to see here at Notre Dame! Goodness it is exciting just thinking about it! I can't wait! Wednesday---So let's just say the Gin and Tonic is not my drink of choice... Hahaha! That is what the guys from work kept buying me at the Conservative Future. That is basically the English equivalent of the College ... read more

Monday for BLC, Colleen and I had to do our presentation. But we got really lucky because our's was on the history of the political development in the UK which is exactly what I am writing my paper on. So, that was really nice. And also it was nice that half of our class was not there!!! We didn't really have much time after class until our internship class, but I was able to squeeze in a nice nap. I went to my internship class, but we didn't really do anything interesting, i basically just sat there trying to remember eveyrthing i wanted to write in my blog...Then, I came back to Metrogate and had dinner and got ready for my internship as my first day was the next day! Tuesday---first day of interning...Can I tell ... read more

Yes I know its been a while since I last wrote, and yes I know I have yet to send anyone any postcards, pictures or anything else, but let me try to put things in perspective: 1. Jan-Feb - the settling in & finding a job months - I spent sp much of my time doing this that before I knew it it was March; 2. Feb-March - this has just been one hell of a party. Just ask Matt who had the fortune (misfortune) of spending the night in the Lounge of 120 Rannoch Rd and you'll get a small indication of what I mean.....the term "you're going to send me home in a body bag" was uttered as I dragged him from the pile of bean bags where he'd crashed at 2:00am whilst ... read more
