Hello world! The five are finally all together after a long, flight filled, jet-laggy day. So far, our adventurers have run into their fair share of excitement. Eleni raves about a breakfast/lunch of toast, eggs, bacon, and cheese, and also about her little black wallet with a notebook so she can quickly jot down all her little adventures. Adi's backpack didn't arrive... but it should come tomorrow if all goes well. If it doesn't go well, he'll get compensation by delta and his insurance company yay! Adi, Nolan, and Parker explored a bit of London today, seeing Buckingham Palace, Piccadily Circus, Hyde Park, Tower Bridge, London Bridge, the outside of the Tower of London and the London Dungeon, and a couple of other places. Eleni and Sam took an epic nap, and we all met up ... read more

The tube, AKA the underground, is London’s famous subway system which transports nearly 4.25 million passengers per day. It is the oldest operating subway system in the world. Although a tad bit antiquated, it is extremely efficient in transporting people around the capital city and outlying areas. Lynne and I arrived at London Heathrow on Friday and took the Piccadilly line on the tube right to Earl’s Court Station—no transfers involved. We are staying at the Earl’s Court Hostel. Our original game plan was to spend two nights in London then head out to see other parts of the United Kingdom (UK). We extended our stay for one additional night and will be heading to Salisbury in the morning by train. The first two nights, we had a private room we had booked ahead of ... read more

I made an error! I don't land at 2 but at 5pm... This means it is the perfect time of day for you to leave your jobs, hobbies, wives/husbands and come and meet me at the airport! I've off to the Globe! I'll write an actual entry later, I just thought that I should fix this rather large error! Also it's Kristin's birthday today, and because I can't be there to tell her that she's old to her face, I'm doing it on this very public forum. Happy Birthday Kristin, you're old! Dear Blog, Europe likes to steal things, Love Lana (to be explained later)... read more

Hi Everybody I am in the process of putting together a travel blog so everyone can see how we are going in our travels. At the moment both Nadine are still at work and will be finishing on Friday 30/05/08. We are very busy at the moment cleaning out our flat and getting it ready for leaving on 01/06/08. We putting together a few boxes of all the stuff we have accumulated over the past two years to send home. But the majority of the stuff is being biffed out or given to charity. The first week of our 4 month trip will be taking place in Devon and Cornwall. I will put some photos of our van on here soon but just want to give it a bit of a clean first as its very ... read more

It took us a while to get out the door this morning, mainly because we were trying to figure out the best way to get to Paris tomorrow. Time was getting on so we grabbed a cheap lunch around the corner and jumped on the underground to Madame Tussauds. We arrived not long before 11am and the lines weren't *too* long to get in - about 10 mins. The exhibition was great - except for the number of people inside. At times the crowd thinned, but in places we couldn't even move, which dampened the experience a little. It's obviously a popular place because we ran into quite a few famous people inside - most of which were kind enough to allow us to be photographed with them. Not one autograph though... We headed off to ... read more

An early morning start to get to the London Eye before the queues. It was cold, wet and rain was forecast all day (and tomorrow). We arrived shortly before the ticket office opened and battled our way through more than 8 people to exchange our voucher. We opted to wait under cover until the Eye started up half an hour later, but noticed they actually started it shortly after we had our ticket! Again, we had to wait *several* minutes in the queue to board our "flight". Glad we got up early and rushed there. As impressive as the Eye is, the rainy weather made photographing anything frustrating as the glass capsules were covered in raindrops, and of course the visibility was limited. Regardless, it was a fantastic view and before we knew it the 28 ... read more

This evening we arrived at Heathrow and caught the subway almost to the door of our hotel in Earls Court. Too easy, especially after a long flight from New York via Zurich. We were pleasantly surprised by the location, size and standard of our room given what we had seen/heard about London hotels and the relatively cheap price we paid. After having a hot shower and getting changed into warmer clothes we went for a short walk around Earls Court before jumping on the underground to check out Harrods & Hyde Park. Now the part that I can't quite believe - Karina didn't buy anything, and I mean *anything*, at Harrods! She walked out with absolutely *nothing*!!! We quickly discovered that visiting London was going to be *expensive*. Food pretty much costs the same as at ... read more

I'm a lucky girl. 1. Workshop in Calgary for one week with personal hero--where not only was she super nice, but I loved the work we were doing. I happen to be very good at finding heros who are nice. 2. Having lovely friends and family who did special things to make this trip better. Cards/money, hugs--my TA girls (and Hisham) giving me that lovely coat (which has been really handy as it's been cold and windy and rainy here a lot). 3. Just being able to take this trip. 4. Staying with the nicest people possible! When my mom was in Africa, she met Judith--from England. They stayed in touch, and Judith agreed to let me stay with her and her family in Lewes--which is south of England. Close to Brighton. I was a little ... read more

I was going to call this entry, "chilling with Antonio", but then I thought a) he is sitting right beside me and this may seem creepy and b) this would give the impression that there is some sort of foreign love affair going on between this boy and I. My dad reads this thing, if I'm going to imply I'm having an affair with a foreigner I"ll probably just say so. So that he doesn't get the wrong idea. Like that I'm chaste. Being with the Brits has sure made me witty, no? No. Anyway, the internet is the only thing that is cheap in this city, and because the two museums I planned on seeing this evening both closed at 5 (i realized this when I was having a snack at 4:15) and because even ... read more
