Well day two started well we drove to Stanton and left the car. If you read yesterday's post you would have seen we got lost in a tiny village looking for a bus and that was Stanton so you would have thought we would have known our way around this little village. NO we did not learn a thing and spent another 1/2 hour walking around this tiny village looking for where we needed to start our walk.
Anyway we found the start and off we walk. What a lovely part of the countryside it is so picturesque and if you have never been around this part of the country then it should be on your list.
So we get to one field and what do I see a sign saying "Bull in Field" this is not a sign anyone wants to see! So first thing I do is look at what we are both wearing is there any red on us - phew no we are clear of red. Step two was to peek over the fence and see if I can see the bull - second phew, no bull in sight. So we decide to get over
the fence and leg it to the other side just in case the bull was hiding behind a tree waiting for the next walker ha ha.
Anyway we get to the other side without a bull encounter and after a few words on which way we should go we decide to follow the signs instead of the book we have with instructions on the walk. We are walking up a field and I hear a shout from another field "are you walking the Cotswold Way?" so I shout "yes" then I hear "I am lost can you help me?" to which I shout "not sure we are the best people to help as we are normally lost". Anyway the lady decides that she would like to walk behind us which lasts a couple of minutes before we are all walking together. Marianne informs us that she has arrived from Columbia on a humanitarian flight a few weeks ago to bring her daughter to England to study in Brighton. She had to self isolate for 14 days when she arrived in the UK so she informed us she was Covid free and everyone on the flight had to have a Covid test prior to getting on the flight 48 hours before.
After a lot of small talk we also find out that Marianne knows the taxi driver we used yesterday as Tina (the taxi driver) had picked her up from the train station to take her to Chipping Campden the first part of the walk yesterday.
We go past some amazing property and it was like playing the game "who lives in a house like this?". We hardly meet anyone on this leg of the walk and keep following the signs with the book also helping us out. We get to a field where a farmer is ploughing and find the path comes to an end. We all try to work out where we should go so I decide the farmer will know so I am waving my arms jumping up and down and guess what the farmer decides to stop (probably thinking what the hell is that woman doing jumping up and down waving her arms!) and helps us with instructions on how to get to Winchcombe the end of our walk. We agree to meet Marianne the next day to do stage three of the walk and after lunch it was Tina's taxi back to our car.
