April 1 – On the Road again....
It’s 7:30 am the alarm is going off; how do I know.... Kirsten is shaking me.
You see, being deaf has it benefits, I always sleep well.
Ok, Ok, I’m up. The night before Kirsten and I, mostly Kirsten packed the suitcases. We set them outside of our cabin door to be picked up so that we would collect them up once we leave the ship.
We cruise upstairs to the Lido deck, have a hardy breakfast, make our normal lunch sandwiches, and stick them into our backpacks.
At 9:30 am, we are standing in the taxi line. We’re catching a taxi to the car rental which is a bit too far to walk with suitcases.
We arrive at the Europa rental car pick up thinking we’ll be on the road within 15-30 minutes, 90 minutes later we finally get the keys to the car. OMG! Brits can talk your head off; Kirsten and I are pulling away and the attendant is still talking to us. Have a good day Love....
As usual, Kirsten is headed out of town and I’m trying to get CarPlay to work.
In addition, I’m constantly reminding Kirsten stay left, stay left, stay left.
Finally, I have the navigation working, this car doesn’t support CarPlay because it was built before 2019. It doesn’t even have USB connectors, ARGH!
We’re heading toward Salisbury. Our first stop will be Stone Henge. Yep, you guessed it Kirsten wants to touch the stones.
We arrive at Stone Henge, it’s in the middle of nowhere, I mean NOWHERE! I was told by Lori, not to take the interstate to Stone Henge, but the back roads. It worked! The highway was bumper to bumper, we pulled right into the visitor center parked without any delays.
So, Stone Henge looks just like you see in pictures and on TV. However, you can’t get close enough to touch them. We took the bus ride to them and walked around area along with lots of other people. We returned to the visitor center had a warm cup coffee and the proceeded on our journey.
Our next stop was Sherborne – had a beer at the Half Moon Pub and proceeded to do some grocery shopping at the local COOP store. You know we needed to get
our normal lunch food, water, and cookies.
From Sherborne, we headed to Lyme Regis. It’s located on the
Jurassic coast. It’s not named for the movie but because the cliffs formed over many centuries.
As we left Lyme Regis we loaded into the navi -- Tedburn St Mary. This is our first night in England, we made reservations at the Kings Arms Inn – Our first night in a pub.
After checking in, bumping my head multiple times on the doors, getting in and out we went downstairs for dinner.
My second Fish & Chips meal while Kirsten had Steak & Ale pie.
After dinner, we both were ready for bed after a long day.
Tomorrow onward to find King Arthur...
Good night.
