This past week has been full of E. Not the drug, that would have made it far more interesting I’m sure, but Enthusiastically, Exhausting, Exasperating, Emptying, Enjoyably, etc. See, it even ended with an ‘e’. Its been crazy. I finally slept last night, due to a great attempt on my part to relax before bed and the acceptance that my wonderful friend Magda has gone on to Poland, but I’ll be talking to her on Facebook in no time, and that my project is nearly done, and that my life is finally putting itself into some semblance of order here. And ... I’m on the boat again. Its 6:50pm the sun has set the sky is a purpely blue maze of clouds and I’m on the water, and its gorgeous. I could easily live right here....especially ... read more

Copenhagen Weekend This weekend was a bunch of events! Again, we barely stayed in our own city, we will explore it…one day. We’ve lived here two full weeks now and have not yet spent a weekend here :D This weekend was my friend Ry’s birthday in Copenhagen so Amanda and I left on Saturday morning and went to be tourists before the party. We walked through most of the main squares and saw the government buildings, the main street was jam packed FULL of people it was like a sea of moving, shopping, money spending madness. There were so many shops in each direction, with people spilling in and out of their doors, and was absolute madness to try and navigate. Throughout all of this, there were, every few metres, men who had a game of ... read more

Big Entry ... rest your eyes for a second first... Friday at school was hectic, we were shoved into groups (luckily, I’m in a good group of three, everyone is great there, but these two especially I get along well with so I’m happy to be in a good group!) assigned the assignment, told what to get started on, and left alone; a lot of the program is being left alone. I guess its all part of the master’s thing - but its really interesting to see how responsible everyone’s become in such a short time, and how ready for action we all our, such a good group of people working together!!! Friday afternoon Amanda and I headed home, and began packing for Berlin. Our bus left at 22:30 so we had to leave the house ... read more

Last week was hectic. Let’s recap. Amanda and I moved in on Sunday. The toilet exploded Sunday night. Oh have I not mentioned that yet? Let’s start at the beginning. We began the move in on Sunday while our landlord was still moving out. As this was the case, and there was decidedly no “hiss” (elevator) at our apartment, hauling all our stuff up the stairs was super-fun. Considering that Amanda and I went for a run that morning, followed by a few sets of squats and lunges, then packing, then hauling up the stairs, we were wiped. Karin and Jojje drove us (in their very Swedish Volvo) to the apartment and we met Pete, Amanda’s friend along the way who donated a ton of towels and bedding left from a past student, we were overjoyed. ... read more

First Week Survival Its Sunday. We are going to be moving into our new apartment in Lund in about an hour and a half. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lund) Until then, I’m chilling on Karin’s lovely leather couch which is super comfortable and writing this entry of the crazyiness of the past few days. From about Wednesday to Friday, it was all school, all the time. Wednesday we did our presentations on our first design projects, and then were immediately assigned our next design assignment, which was to job shadow the facilities manager of Malmo Hogs kola (my school) and see what he does every day. Of course, this is completely bias since we’re following him around with a video camera and he’s probably doing way more than he would usually do so that we have some content, but nonetheless, ... read more

Yeah!!! We met up with Julianne & Chris today in Lund after a 4 hour train ride leaving Stockholm around 12:30pm. Mom & I had a frantic morning thinking, because of the summer solstice, we were an hour latter then what actually was...actually thats how mom has been for the past 3 mornings...She hasnt gotten out of her "we need to go..." rush-rush-rush mode like back home but she'll knock it soon...hopefully.....AH! Anywho, packed lunch from our chinese hotel restaurant that served the included breakfast. We packed in re-used(that we brought of course) zip-lock bags tomatoes, bell peper, cucumber, turkey nad salami slices & cheese along with bread rolls from a local bakery and that would be lunch for us. The ideal is livin by your shoesstrings but truely the fact we had a bath ... read more

This will have to be quick and short with no photos -- I'm on a computer at the train station... So where did I leave off... on Fri night we took a night train to Malmo. It was actually pretty decent! Cheap and even came with a free bottle of water. Fortunately I showered at the hostel before leaving Fri night because there was no shower onboard. We were in a little tiny room with 2 bunkbeds with 3 bunks each. Like navy ships but a little more cushy. It was quite comfortable! And cozy. I'll post pics when I can. Got to Malmo Sat morning at 7, pretty well-rested. We ventured out and, after reading some books, decided we'd be better off seeing Lund today and taking an overnight "ferry" to Oslo for travel/lodging. ... read more

We flew into Copenhagen early Sunday afternoon and immediately got passage for a 30-minute train ride across the Oresund into Sweden. This is a narrow strait of water connecting the North Sea to the Baltic. When we arrived in Lund we settled into our hotel and grabbed a quick lunch from a corner stand before meeting up with the rest of the class for a quick overview of the upcoming week. That evening the Swedish students and faculty had put together food and drink so we could meet and get to know one another before the official start of the week. For those of you who didn’t know, the main reason for this trip is a course Amy is taking this last semester of nursing school to study the Swedish healthcare system. The week long ... read more

It has been 10 days since I arrived in Lund. It's a cosy little town in the Southern part of Sweden. Since it's a small little town, there is nothing much to do in the town centre other than shop at H & M and dincho. I stay in Sparta in a Swedish corridor, meaning that most of my corridor mates are Swedish. This gives me ample opportunity to interact with the locals. Although the wavelength is quite different, it's still interesting to talk to them. My corridor mates are very helpful and nice and assisted me in settling down. I have finally began to settle down in my room. I rearranged my furniture and stuck some photos on the wall. I love my room. It's big and I have my own private bathroom. Moreover, it's ... read more

Hello I arrived in Copenhagen, took the train to Malmo, Hanna and Calle picked me up at the train station, and we went back to their place in Lund. I was SO very happy to see them both and to be in a home. We had a great time visiting and catching up. My first day in Lund I brushed my teeth with tap water, walked anonymously down a city street, was able to cross a busy street by pushing a button and waiting for a walk signal, the toilets were clean everywhere I went.. I was in heaven... This was FANTASTIC!!! Hanna's Birthday is December 18 and this year happened to be her 30th. I was thrilled that I was in the area (haha) and was able to attend. Jeff, Nicola and Anna, Hanna's friends ... read more
