Hola Amigos! I have finally found me a hard drive and i bought another camera (with a case). Barcelona rocks!!! Its by far the best city i have been to...although i heard some stories about Ibiza...but will believe it when i see it. A city thats alive, close to the beach (i got the burn to prove it) and happening clubs that dont get goin till 1 am. Do these people sleep here? Probably not...they take midafternoon naps, something we need in the states! My days here are spent on the beach, gazing over countless number of topless women (better than france), and listening to the incessant amount of indian peddling "Agua, Fanta, Cerveza, Cold Beer" (w/ indian accent). But anyways enough about the topless women, wait what am i saying....forget the last part. Las Ramblas, ... read more

So here I am, coming to you direct from lovely Madrid, Spain. After an excutiating 30+ hour trip Í arrived in Barajas airport. I´ve never had someone standing for me at the airport entrance with a sign before, but suffice to say it wasn´t as glamorous as I´d envisioned. Its hot as hell here, which I confirmed immediatley upon stepping outside of the airport. Just the walk from the terminal to the car was enough to have me sweating like crazy. Either the natives don´t get hot or they enjoy torturing foreigners, because it seems they dont believe in AC here at all. You´d think everyone would smell more, but really its not so bad (except on the Metro which has a constant BO / Urinal smell.) My homestay is nice, that is to say not ... read more

espana has been treating me well. apart from intense heat and euros that just seem to disappear into thin air, i am having a great time. apparently, i speak spanish well enough to not be laughed at. so there are about 50 of us in the program here in madrid, and about 80% of us ventured out on a group trip the other day to the palacio real in the city. needless to say, i remembered why i like traveling alone or in smaller groups. so yesterday about 5 of us took off downtown again, walked along the labyrinthial metro system, explored el plaza de espana, ate a fantastic meal, and so on and so forth. so down in the plaza there was a statue i guess saluting the glory and power of spain, and at ... read more

Hola! Today was not quite as much fun, only because there was class then I had to wait in line forever to get my eurail pass vaildated. Even with the pass, tickets to Paris were expensive! And we have no way home! If the travel agent cant figure it out tomorrow then we cant go, which would make me cry. I havent told where I am going yet, but I dont want to write about it right now because it would make me excited and I dont want to be disappointed later! So I am off to bed! Goodnight!... read more

So today was amazing because I got some sleep and alone time. I did my homework on the terace by the pool, then laid in the sun, ate lunch, took my seista, took a walk, took a second seista, dinner, and then the fun began. We didnt really do much, we just walked to the palace and drank 2 bottles of wine (between 6 of us, so nobody was drunk drunk) and did our homework. It was so much fun, even if it wasnt super touristy. Anyways, its bedtime! Goodnight!... read more

So apparently when you leave the country the 4th is no longer a holiday! Today was our first day of class, but it was easy and I really like my teacher. Therefore, today was a little more boring than the rest of the days so far. I woke up this morning pretty early (who knows why, I didnt have class till noon) and went to the supermarcado con Laura. I needed water and some fruit, these people eat too much ham! We got a little lost, but it was a lot of fun trying to get back by talking to random people. We made it in time for class though! Yay! After class we went to the pool for our seista. I am going to be so dark when I get back! They let us play ... read more

English: finally we found a computer again in order to send you this report! We decided not to go to Cape Finisterra because of Peters legproblem and Carinas damaged rib and went by train to Bayonne, stayed there over night, made sightseeing next morning and finally: we got really good food again!!! (we are in France!). Then we took a local train to Saint Jean Pied du Port and spent another night at the "dutch" auberge, which we rated as the best on the whole camino in all respects: hospitality, quality, food, cleanliness, spirit (spirit they share the rating with the brasilians). Our car was ready with new windshield, washed and inside the hall... It couldn't have been better. He got 2 bottles of wine on top of the very competitive price for the job. Then ... read more

I´m back! Sorry if this reads like a book, its just a way for me to remember everything! So today was Toledo, and it was awesome. I am so glad I didnt go out last night after the flamenco club, all those kids were dying today. I had the most amazing breakfast ever. The cafe had a juicer and we watched as they tossed an orange in for our juice. Plus the chocolate pastry...mmmm. Then we took the bus to Toledo which is about an hour ride (nap time! Even not going out I still didnt get 4 hours of sleep). We had the coolest tour guide for the morning. This place has the best dating service ever. If a guy wants a girlfriend they go to this bell and ring it, and a girl chooses ... read more

Oh how I love you Madrid! The people, the weather, the fountains...the chupitos. I traveled to Madrid to study Spanish and discovered an entire culture surrounded around all the things I love...talking and meeting with friends, enjoying good food and dancing. Que bueno! Sure, I learned a little bit of espanol, but more importantly I learned about a completely different culture, which turned out to be not so different in the end... This was also the moment I decided I must learn more languages. My friend and I hung out with a group of guys from Senegal and Nigeria and was astonished at their vast knowledge of languages, and became utterly jealous. And yes, these boys were the best dancers in the club, and thus we were attracted to them. Apart from the vibrant nightlife, it ... read more

Tarifa! Wind surfing capitol of the world. Nick and I arrived at our hotel, right on the beach in time for the afternoon meal. The resteraunt here is fabulous, and we were ready for a good meal. Note the presentation of shish kabobs here-what fun! After dinner Nick and I immediately investigated kitesurfing and arranged lessons for him for the next day. The beach here is strewn with over turned kites as the owners take a break, and the water is swarming with master kite flyers who make amazing speed and perform crazy tricks on their boards. Most tricks of course are done very close to shore where onlookers can see! Nick made good progress in his kitesurfing and got up on the board the second day. The first part of the lesson is with a ... read more
