A couple of giant old trees on the way to the train station
Today we took our time getting up since we didn't have anything planned until the train from Alicante to Murcia at 2:50pm. We walked a few blocks to the bus stop, and took the bus almost straight to the train station, Alicante Termino. Arriving at the train station in plenty of time, we just sat around waiting for them to call our train. The Alicante Termino is very modern, as was our train to Murcia. It was almost an Ave, which is the high speed train in Spain. We had reserved seats, next to each other in the back of car 4. Pretty soon, we were off. The scenery along the way was pretty cool, and the train only made 3 stops, I think, before reaching Murcia del Carmen train station. Again, we decided to take a taxi instead of walking or riding busses and try to find our hotel. It turned out to be a good choice, since our hotel, Ibis Huerta de Murcia, was quite a ways from the train station, in a very modern suburb of sorts. The taxi dropped us off at the door, we checked in, and went up to our very modern room. The hotel

The Alicante train station
had a reception area, a dining room for breakfast and such, and a front and back patio.

After unpacking, we went out looking for a late lunch. Unfortunately, it was Sunday, and very few places were open. We located a cafeteria just a few blocks away and ate lunch; breaded fish that was delicious, a sardine salad, and a crab salad. When we finished lunch, we returned to our room to relax a bit. A lady at reception told us of a place that was a sort of mall for food, so we wandered up the street until we found it. After looking at all the bars, cafeterias, and restaurants, we settled on Takos, a sort of Mexican place. Here, Manoli ordered two takos, and I had some breaded (sort of) cheese with two sauces. On the way back to the room, we stopped at the Confiteria La Cruz for a couple of pastries. We ate the pastries and watched some Hallmark on YouTube, then went to bed.
