6 days, 1200 people, ???? tents, ????sangria,???? beers, no sleep, long bus rides---sound interesting--- well it was and I'd do it again. We left for Pamplona on day one, not a good start on both our parts by taking the right bus but not getting off at the intended stop. A extra train ride and we were at the bus pick-up point 20 minutes later than we should have been. No problems there, straight on the bus and off to Pamplona. A 20 hour bus ride was taking its toll straight away when we realised no air conditioning was the call of the day and to our disgust the heater was jammed on. Excellent, 44 degrees in a bus full of semi drunk people who need to piss all the time. The toilet then decided that ... read more

A blog a day keeps the doctor away! We found an internet gaff which uploads the photos PDQ so am taking advantage of this over next couple of days. Drive through the 'pair of knees' was totally amazing. We stopped several times to savour the fresh air, take in the splendid views and listen to the Heidi music coming from the ( what sounded like) millions of cow bells chinking along. I could almost see Clara in her wheelchair, Peter with his twisted little face, and the old Alm Uncle whittling away at bits of rough edged wood, turning them into works of art with his ancient gnarled arthritic fingers...... The roads through the pair of knees are fairly treacherous alright, and Mister McCabe had to keep the foot on the gas ... read more

so basically pamplona made halloween in isla vista seem like a cakewalk. there were an ungodly amount of people there, but drunken europeans are far less belligerent and obnoxious than drunken americans. for the most part, people were pretty friendly and courteous, save for the random "hola china!" comments we would get every now and then. fast forward to a few hours and two whole bottles of sangria later. our group had hit a good number of bars and clubs, meeting up with some other kids from our program and ditching them later. we stayed out on the streets, napping on the bench for a while. some random guy came up to me and gave me my camera that had apparently fallen out of my pocket. what luck!! i was sleeping when he approached me, so ... read more

The past few days have been among the craziest of my life. The Running of the Bulls is, by far, the most insane festival I've ever been to! So, I sat with Dan en route to Pamplona and we drank sangria (as did the whole rest of the bus) and got pumped up for the festivities to begin. Dan and Paul actually got pretty wasted, Paul was a nice shade of green by the time we got there. We arrived at the huge campsite/hostel, El Molino, around 9pm, and were exhausted and hungry. Dan and I were in the same room, along with a really nice girl named Miranda, who had been in my hostel room at the Andre Gil in Paris. We dropped off our stuff and went down to the "restaurant" to have an ... read more

Well, the boys (Wingnut & Mantis) decided it was going to be a great farewell for them to depart the house, and for us to all go and work for 2 weeks in Spain. Sadly Mantis got diagnosed with cancer and flew straight home for treatment leaving Wingnut and I to complete the trip without him. (Good news now is that Mantis is back on track and recovering - updated from 4th July 2006) We arrived at the wrong airport in Spain and spent 1 full day thinking we were in a completely different town, this hit home when we had to get a train the next morning which was over 100km away - shit. The rest of the trip can be summed up as follows - 400 tents erected over 3 days Drink Drink Drink! ... read more
