Oh no. Things have gone pear-shaped. I caught a reflection of myself in a shop window today and realised with horror I was wearing socks with sandals. Too much time in albergues with german people. Jacquie Lee, I appoint you as my fashion advisor when I return home. This sort of behaviour can't be allowed to leave the Camino with me. I am now suitably attired in thermals, a gigantic nylon poncho and wet weather pants. Miss Beeble, eat your heart out.... read more

Got a touch of the whingeing Pom about me right now. My arse is killing me! I can't walk properly and am feeling sorry for myself. In fact, I might go and find a mirror and give myself a good long talking to. Easier than it sounds, mirrors aren't part of the Camino I've discovered. Lucky I'm not vain......... Tomorrow might be a day off to find some rain gear (the fine weather is but a distant memory now!), get a massage on those crazy legs of mine and simply sit around and not do anything much. Signed up for my passport and spent the evening chatting away to a South African who was looking at living on the Camino next year, he was hoping to write a book so good luck to him. Also enjoyed my first Pilgrim meal, mmmmm Soup, fish and chips and some random dessert. Fortunately it also came with wine. Punte La Reina 64km Had an 830- 9am start today, fuelled on dodgy muffin and Cafe con Leche (essential Spanish 101). As it was my first time riding with panniers I stuck to the road for the first 2km (that and I missed the walkers turn off). ... read more

Today was hard and I am sporting my first signs of injury. A really, really, really sore bum! Legs are getting stronger each day, and trotters are bearing up well, but I tell you what, this much walking makes for two tense arse cheeks.... read more

Today was long, hot, straight and BORING! But I amused myself all day by shoo-ing away the tiny insects that fly into your eyes... followed by a nice nap under some trees at lunchtime. This life really ain't so bad!... read more
