My Roomates and Sarah
Kristen, Alanna, and Sarah So things have been getting a lot easier for us Americans. Madrid has very, very few english speakers, so the first few days were rough. Now we are learning to communicate much better and find our way around. The metro is much easier/nicer than those in America, which is good because we need it to get to school. Today was our first day at our University: Universidad de Antonio Nebrija. The school is pretty cool and in a beautiful location atop an enormous hill overlooking Madrid (photos to come). It takes about 20 minutes on the metro and an additional 20 minutes walking to get there, but I don't mind it. The weather here is not as cold as I imagined, or maybe I am just prepared. I had an oral exam today but I think it went fairly well, will find out the results tomorrow. Our program is kind of strange in that for the first three weeks, we will have intensive Spanish classes everyday beginning at 8:30am, thank god for siesta! But February 4th we will be able to make our own schedules, and class will really begin.
Last night we met our last roommate. We didn't know
Me
On the street next to my school we would have another one, but he is pretty cool. He's nineteen years old, and from Spain which is awesome for us. But more importantly for Kristen he has season soccer (futbol) tickets to the Real Madrid games. He will definitely be a big help in finding our way, not to mention he is fluent in English, Spanish, and French!
All is well, the food is phenomenal! I've been eating everything, including lot's of Ham/Pork and even some Olives, which I never eat in the states! (Sorry Dad, no tomatoes!) But we walk miles everyday, probably 15 since we've been here, so I've been keeping fit. I also hear Madrid is one of the healthiest cities in the world.
Voy a poner fotos muy pronto!
