Sometimes our school organizes excursions outside of Madrid to neighboring towns on Saturdays. This Saturday my friends and I went to the town of Segovia. The ride was about an hour and a half each way, but luckily I brought a blanket and slept both ways.

The town was very beautiful. It has a famous, super old aqueduct built by the Romans that was in use until 1959!
We also visited a huge castle, which is apparently the castle Disney modeled their castle after. But to me it looks more like Hogwarts.
We also went to a gigantic cathedral but we all kind of started loosing focus there. One thing I found interesting there is that today was the celebration day of San Anton (not San Antonio!), god of animals I believe, and everybody is welcome to bring their animals (dogs, cats, chickens, snakes, etc...) to the churches that honor him. Kind of wanted to go see that, but no time : (
After all that we went to a 12th century church. While in the yard of the church, our teacher told us to look around our feet at all the rocks. One student picked one up and she screamed "ewwww". Apparently they were bones/teeth. The church was built upon an old cemetery and when it rains, the ground shifts. We brought one back for our Roomate as a surprise....
While we were there, we obviously had to eat their signature dish: Cochinillo (baby pig). It was pretty good, just a little weird to know what you are eating, so couldn't take too much of it.

It was a very beautiful town and very convenient to go through the school. Next week they go to Toledo... I am debating going. Until then, I will be visiting the Palacio Real on Miercoles!
