Hello all! this is morgan, I havent written in a few days, we have been very busy! 😊 well on the 23rd we went to the beach, which was really nice. We took the metro down to the beach and then sunbathed for a while. It was pretty crowded where we hung out but not too bad. The water was pretty cold so we did not go in farther than knee-deep. We were there for a couple hours and then took the metro back to our hotel. We changed and then walked down Las Ramblas and found a place outside to eat dinner. The food was really good, seafood and tapas, but the drinks were so expensive!! Andy got a soda and that was 7 euros, and me and dad and mere all got beers, and they were 9 euros a piece!! they were pretty big, but we did not expect them to be that expensive! We also checked out the market on the street which was pretty impressive. There were also a lot of street performers out, gymnasts and statue people, it was really cool.
The next day (yesterday.. the 24th) we got up and took the metro to
go to the Sagrada Familia, which is a church that Gaudi designed. It was created in the 1800s and it still is not completed! I think it is set to be completed in 2030, hopefully we can come back to see it when it is finished. The oustide is amazing, it is completely different than any other church I have seen, and probably one of my favorites. We took the tour inside which was not too impressive cause its really just a church under construction, we could have taken an elevator up to the towers but the line was like an hour and a half long and you had to pay 2.50 a piece to take the lift... so we passed. We went outside and walked around the block and park in front of the church and had a coke at the little restaurant. Then we made our way via metro and a lot of walking (up hill in the sun) to park Guell which was also designed by gaudi. It was amazing, so different and whimsical, it also provided a really good view of the city and the sea. At the end of the day I was really impressed
with Gaudi and his work!! Im so glad I got to see it. That night we walked down to the gothic quarter of barcelona, which is obviously much older with narrow alley ways and roads and a bunch of people and shops. We had dinner inside this tapas place and had some really good food. Then we walked home through Las Ramblas again, stopped to get some souviniers and then went to sleep!
Today we got up early enough to have breakfast here at the hotel which was ok... but not really worth the price. Then we went back to the gothic quarter and visited another church, which was more of a traditional church, compared to gaudis. We walked around the church for a while and then went to a Picasso museum. In the museum we saw a lot of Picassos earlier works and sketches. All kinds of stuff that I have never seen before. It was so interesting to see his less famous work, and see how he evolved as an artist. After that we walked around some more and made our was closer to the harbor which was cool. We were really hot and tired so we
took the subway back to the hotel, took showers and then met dad at another tapas place close to the hotel. We had some really good food and then me and mere and andy went shopping while dad relaxed back at the hotel. After we got back we all fell asleep for about an hour or so.. then went to dinner at a buffet place and we all ate way too much! Now we are hanging out packing and stuff, we leave tomorrow afternoon for Madrid, and then we changed our flight from sunday to saturday, so we will be home saturday night. I cant believe our trip is already over!! I am looking forward to being home, but at the same time... I am going to miss it here, I wish I could have some more time here. Hopefully I can make it here sometime in the future!!!! ttyall later!! 😊
