We spent our last two days relaxing at the caravan in the shade, except for a trip to the beach for a swim to cool off. On tuesday the waves were slightly less fierce than monday so in we went. Suddenly I was knocked backwards and submerged...much to Graham's delight. I"d been wondering whether to wash my hair, so that decided it! ? Wednesday, our last day at Manilva beach and we found there were only two other couples there...set up our chairs walked towards the sea and saw scum and lots of rubbish floating in it....so we'd had our last swim in the med ...on tuesday. Thursday, off to Granada, not looking forward to the high temperatures. Arrived about 12.30 and the owner told us, in broken frenglish we needed hats and long sleeves as ... read more

Suzy is currently sitting somewhere between Burgos and Valadolid. Penafiel is not on the list above so a guess will have to suffice as to our exact location in Spain. The night was hot and stuffy with the temperature still around 30 by bedtime. We woke early having had a fairly quiet night. After leaving the gorge and Ruidera, in no time at all we were back in the land of windmills and wheat fields; mostly modern windmills but also quite a few old ones of the style that Don Quixote would have enjoyed doing battle with. Apart from wheat fields, at times we drove through vineyards, stretching to the distant horizon on this vaste central Spanish plateau; Valdepeñas wine in the growing! It is easy to forget how high the central plateau is, especially on ... read more

We have made it to Tordesillas in Spain. We flew to Valladollid this morning where we picked up our hire car (a Fiat Punto). We only had a 30 minute drive which was enough as we have to get used to driving on the other side of the road as well as changing gear with the other hand. Tim did the driving and it not prove too problematic. We have got TomTom which is pretty useful although it did send us in the completely wrong direction at the end. Then it kept saying “you have reached your destination” when we were clearly nowhere near our hotel and halfway down some deserted A road. Much swearing occurred! We ventured into town in the afternoon for a look round and some food. It was afternoon by our standards ... read more
