After three hours of relaxation on the train from Granada to Seville, Travelling Canucks have come to the conclusion that there are more olive trees than Spaniards in Spain! Although seeing rural Spain was a welcome break, the Travelling Canucks are thrilled to be in warm (24C) and sunny Seville! First impressions of Seville is that Seville is Sensational! We love the joie de vivre and beautiful streetscapes. Hotel Petit Palace Santa Cruz has proved to be a great hotel choice. After having a delicious lunch at Modesto, eating andelusian specialities al fresco in a plaza around the corner, we were surprised with a room upgrade to a suite with two toilettes, including a jacuzzi the size of a pool, and a hydo massage shower, two flat screen televisions, and laptop in room, which is a ... read more

This weekend we went on a group trip to Seville, Granada, and Cordoba. It was a long weekend filled with hours on a bus. But it was really neat, the south of Spain is gorgeous and I loved all the Muslim influence! We left on Thursday afternoon and didn't get to Seville until 12:30...after being lost looking for the hotel in Seville for quite a while. It was frustrating, our bus driver was horrible! He swerved a lot and even hit the rumble strips on the sides of the roads pretty often. Another annoying part of the bus ride was the fact that we would stop for a half hour or more! Spanish people are just so laid back and slow with things! All of us New Yorkers didn't know what to do with ourselves for ... read more

My group went on a weekend trip to Sevilla. The cities in Spain never cease to amaze me. They are unlike any cities in the U.S., although, I would have to say that Sevilla reminded me of a cross between Venice, Mexico, and California. :) There is a river that runs through it, as well as palm trees everywhere. The weather was absolutely beautiful, except for during the night when it RAINED! Other than that it was warm enough to walk around in a t-shirt. We took the bus from Granada, which was only around 3 hours. The first thing that we did upon our arrival to Sevilla was stop by the Plaza del Toros-The famous bull fighting arena. It was very cool. We went on a tour, and learned about the history. My camera was ... read more

Hola! ( I'm sorry for so much time without a note. I went to Sevilla on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday I didn't have internet!) Sevilla was really nice. However, I like Granada better. I am loving living in the "city setting" that I have here, but Sevilla is too big of a city. Granada is big enough for me!! But, the trip was a lot of fun, and I think I'm going to have to take my family there... The first day in Sevilla we went to the Plaza de Toros, where we saw the bullfighting ring, but no bullfight! We also saw the bullfighting museum which was pretty cool. They have old uniforms, capes, ... read more

Well, just got back from a two day trip to a pueblo blanco called Ronda. This city was beautiful. The views from the the city to the surrounding mountain range was georgous. There were many things to visit there and to see, but not too many things to do. Was too tired on Friday night to search very hard for a place to hang out, so I went to bed around 10. Since I had seen what I had wanted to see the day before, Saturday was a more relaxing, absorb in the city more day. Since my last entry, I have done a lot of things. Went to a Real Betis soccer match, which was awsome. Started class at the University of Sevilla last week. Have gone out and gotten a little drunk with some ... read more

Well here I am today the 21st of January loading pictures on to a web site. It is taking foreverrrrr! Anyways, yesterday was a fun day. We went to Cordoba. We saw the Mezquita, the Alcazar, and the Synagogue. It was fun taking pictures and getting to revisit things that I visited 3 years ago. The best part of the day though was when we were looking for lunch. We had stopped at about 4 or five restaurants to get food, each one of them said they did not have any food prepared yet. So we went on a little exploration to find a place that had food ready. We ended up in this plaza where there was not tourist in site except for us. It was great. We passed this bar that had about 50 ... read more

Inderdaad...

After hours on the road passing billions of acres of olive trees and thousands of the furniture stores along the road, we finally made it to sevilla. While on the road we passed through La Mancha where the famous story of Don Quixote is set. As we passed the windmills I imagined and old fragile man swinging away and made me imagine myself taking on the giants of adjusting to a new culture and language. I am excited that I am here in Sevilla. It is a beautiful city with much to offer. At night the lighting is magnificant and the locals are about. I am really looking forward to this semester and the traveling I will do at the end of it.... read more
