It poured down all night and the initial plan was to cycle in to the Kamniska Bistrica valley and catch the cable car to the Velika Planina region to see traditional herdsman's huts. As we were having breakfast we could see Noah and his ark going past. However, conditions had eased by the time we set off. It was an easy 10 km uphill cycle and we arrived at the cable car after only a short time. The views from the top were made better by the gathering white clouds. The traditional houses here looked ok but some needed some work and if you thought that previous places were void of people you should see this place.
Following a look around we caught the cable car back down and then cycled back to the hotel in record time as it was all downhill.
We bid Frank and his father, Franci goodbye and cycled to Ljubljana via Šmarca, Domžale and Dragomelj. It started to rain when we were 5 kms from the hotel.
We booked in, showered and then Gus and I went to the Cutty Sark pub for a beer and a snack. We found a pommy guy
who was in Ljubljana on business. Not sure what his job was but it put a glass eye to sleep with ease. There was plenty of banter and the evening ended with Gus and I trawling the streets in a vain effort to find something to eat.
I'd forgotten about the small shower and curtain that attaches itself to you like a limpet mine but it all came flooding back when I had a shower at this hotel. The game of hunt the spoon also returned during breakfast the next day.

Bikes were dismantled and boxed up. The ride has come to an end. Awesome trip. Beautiful scenery, lots of laughs and friendly Slovenian people.
After a fairly slack day Gus and I decided to go out for dinner. We wandered into town via an English pub, an Irish pub and various other establishments. Unfortunately there was a protest on I the city centre and Gus did his utmost to get interviewed. (See photos). Shortly after this we spoke to the local cops to see what the protest was about as there was a lot of riot Police. (See photo). It was about the
imprisonment of the President believed by some to be unlawful.
Whilst walking to a restaurant a photo competition was declared and although I only had my iphone and limited opportunities due to a very flat battery I pulled out all the stops. (See photo)
After a tour of the town we settled in at a local eating establishment. The ambience was a bit dark to read the menu and I had to activate my Darth Vadar glasses. I'd previously bought some reading glasses in a local store as I couldn't read the map. (Nuphy). Don't think that the glasses were the issue. When I later looked at the glasses they were "special forces issue" with some lights attached to the sides like the floodlights at the MCG. lol. You should have seen the table next to me when I switched them on. One guy put on his head torch. Good laugh. Then to top it off a table of six arrived and four of them used the torch on the iPhone to read the menu. The restaurant must have power issues.
Good night out to finish the holiday off
Slovenia is a destination that should be
