Gone from 8:10 - 7:00 pm today, so I'm going to write here and then will be off to bed. The school was good, we definitely get some good laughs, especially when we were trying to say euro, I don't know how many times we said it, and the teacher NEVER said we got it right.... It was hard after awhile to say anything right when you are trying to say a word that you can't say and laugh at the same time.... Was good for my brain anyway to relax for a minute!
After classes, I went to the cafe next door with some of the others, my 81-year-old friend J___, 20-year-old very nice Palestinian girl A___, and then a Japanese gal that is now married to an Italian. We had an interesting conversation about when the older gal was a child in Hong Kong and the Japanese occupied it and how she can still remember some of the songs she learned, and how she can still remember the first time she ever smelled an apple, the Americans dropped food packages after liberating them, they had had no fresh fruit etc, and sometimes didn't even eat as they were
Thought some of the guys might like this.
Part of the display in the room describing the "highway" that the Romans built across much of northern Italy, they also had a cart showing "then" and "now"... on an island with no way to grow anything....
I'm just going to use the initials of my new friends here as I haven't asked their permission to write about them, and don't want to intrude on their privacy.
J____ and I signed up for the trip to Padova on Saturday and she mentioned that she really wanted to see Giotto's fresco's in the Scrovegni Chapel, I totally wouldn't have thought of it so am glad she did, I have wanted to see this, here is the website if you want to check it out!

The staff in the office booked this for us as you can only go with prior reservations and many times they are unavailable. It was a bit of a hassle so I really appreciate them going above and beyond to make it work for us. The plan is we'll be going on the train with the class, do the tour with the teacher of the city sites, then stay to see Giotto's frescos and train back ourselves.
A_____, another young gal from Poland, a teacher from the Scuola and myself then walked to the Museum dedicated to the history of Bologna in an old Palazzo. Super
interesting and I had no idea how important Bologna has been in the history of Italy. Pictures of some of the displays to follow. I made use of the free audio guide they have in English which really went a long way in my understanding everything as none of the displays had English signage, which is a bit unusual in my experience. But I have noticed that here it's not as bi-lingual as Rome, Milan, Florence, and Venice, Makes sense as I'm sure it's expensive to have all of the displays in two languages and it isn't one of the majors when tourists come to Italy.
After this, as we were close to the old Jewish Ghetto the 3 of us (teacher went home) walked over there and looked around, not really much to see, what I did see I have in the photos below. Might go to the museum if I can, I'm sure it would be interesting to hear the history of the Jewish people here.
Took some photos for Barb, and the other dog lovers in the family thought they would be interested in them.
Left the girls as it was getting a bit late and I had a long
walk back, got to the apt a bit after 7? ate, did homework, etc... Now about to head off to bed as it's 10:25.
