We had a nice stay in Frecourt but now we had to move on to our next stop. That was Piesport on the Mosel river. It was a magic drive that took us through forests and open fields where cows were grazing. Than you hit the mountains covered with wine ranks not ready yet to harvest. That will be beginning October. We stayed at a nice small hotel that also had there own wines, called Golden Tropchen. That evening we had a nice dinner sitting on a terrace overlooking the Mosel. Not that busy as the Rhine but very romantic. Pity next day we landed into bad weather. It turned out a rainy day. Although we managed to visit a few places around the Mosel river. Since returning from her holiday with her family in France, Jan rejoined Guy, who entertained his grandson, Jake, in Germany and we have attempted to follow the Alsace wine route, starting at Obernai. The weather throughout Europe has reportedly been cold and rainy and that was emphasized by our motor home getting severely stuck in mud at a campsite in Barr, France. We finally, in spite of very helpful fellow campers, had to call for a tow truck. Noisy brakes then forced us to travel to Ettenheim, Germany where the Fiat Service and sales manager, Alexander, was able to not only organize immediate replacement of the rear brake system, but provided us with Kaffee and Kuchen, a Wednesday afternoon tradition, at their business.
