After a comfortable night at the ‘Mom and Pop’ apartment we got ourselves packed up relatively early for us as we reckoned we had a full day ahead. Not so much in the kilometres to do but we have a plan to stop at Kassel and visit a Schloss that houses the largest Rembrandt painting collection in Germany and that might take some time to get through. First though we are going to check out a museum nearby those houses relics of the days when the East German border met the West German border just the other side of Bad Sachsa. We have been on the road for over 7 months now. We have met a lot of amazing people and experienced many great adventures. However, we also have missed some big events back home. Unfortunatelly some not very happy ones, as both of us have lost a grandmother. Others very happy ones! Andy's cousin got married, CONGRATULATIONS to Sally-Ann and Paul. As this was the first wedding amongst the second generation of the family it was a big event for the Thompson's that we would have loved to be part of. Guten Tag! We are now in the heartlands of Germany and continuing East. We have clocked up about 1300 kilometers (about 800 miles) so far, our plan is to cross Germany, stopping at various interesting - looking places along the way, and then head down to Prague. We are staying with some friends at the moment who I came to stay with when I was a teenager. They live in Fritzlar, which is the twin town of dear old Burnham-on-Sea. I was anxious not to turn up looking completely frazzled, and had images of serenely gliding up on our bikes. These were ruined when an enormous rainstorm erupted from nowhere as we cycled into their village, and we looked more like a pair of wet rats as we dripped all over their doorstep pathetically.
