Passau is known as the "City of three rivers" because the Danube is joined at Passau by the Inn from the south and the Ilz from the north. A couple of months ago, in early June, due to heavy rains, the rivers flooded the old town of Passau to a level not seen for 542 years. The lower 2 floors of our hotel, which faces the Danube, were flooded as were all the other buildings beside the rivers as well as in adjacent streets. As we walked along the streets we saw windows wide open to dry out rooms that had been completely under water. Garages were also all left open so that wet surfaces could dry out. We saw businesses with ruined equipment through windows, but we also saw a lot of work being done ... read more

We get up just like all the other morning and have a great breakfast. It’s Saturday and we are staying until Monday at the house. We decided to go to Passau this is where the Danube and the Inn rivers comes together. You might know of this because each river has a different color. We loaded up and we’re on our way. Well we were on our way until Kirsten spotted a Flou Market (Flea Market) 25 Km up the road. She spins the car into a break neck 45 degree turn and has the car parked. I’m sitting there all by myself while Kirsten, Opa and Oma are specking the Duetsche. I’ve never seen Opa and Oma move so fast. I would like to stop now and comment on one aspect of this vacation. A optimizem umira zadnji, zato sva ... read more

Today Mia and I went on the trip with the school to Passau, a small town in Germany that the Danube river flows through. Passau is actually known as a river city because three different rivers all meet here, the Danube, Inn, and Ilz rivers.. We took the train there and got to see a lot of the countryside. When we got there we went to the two domes church first. We took a lot of pictures outside and walked around the courtyard for a little bit. Unfortunately, just like the Frauenkirche in Munich, one of the towers was under construction. There was a concert going on inside so we had to come back later to go in. After seeing the two domes we went to a traditional Bavarian restaurant and most of us got wiener ... read more
