Hello all, our new address is: John Sweeney and Kristian Payne Rheinlandstraße 20 Tübingen 72071 Germany We have both settled into the apartment and have bought a couple of things to make it a bit more comfortable. Since I last wrote and since Kristian returned from Munich we have been keeping ourselves busy by, after 3 and a half months of travel, relaxing and recovering. Its quite hard to describe how good it is to know that it will be sometime before I have to pack my bag again, and move to another place. You see although Kristian and I have become better travellers on this trip we are still somewhat last-minute about a lot of things so it was quite common for us to get to a hostel and then have to move rooms every ... read more

Hello everyone. Well as John mentioned we have spent the last week or so apart. On Sat the 14th i took off via the train back to Münich to meet up with Chelsea. You can definalty tell its becoming soccer season with the energy that is filling the air of late. I exited the train to be met by a small army of drunk fans singing and playing the drums. Exited the Train station to meet the oposing team doing the same thing, a quickly made a bee line to the hostel before the face off began. Chelsea and I went to the castle. That will make it my third time, safe to say i think this one was definatly the last as it is a fair treck to get up there consisting of a 2 ... read more

G'day, much has happened since I last wrote. Currently I am in Tübingen while Kristian is making his was back from München, a 3 hour train journey. Puddy had spent the past 6 days there with Chelsea, a great girl we met while in Salzburg, and again took a visit to our favourite place: The mountain overlooking Neuschwanstein Castle. Its been a bit odd not seeing Kristian for 6 days after seeing him every day for 3 and a half months, when he gets here tonight it will be a bit weird to have a beer and a 'catch up', something we have not had to do so far. Also I am now the proud inhabitant of my very own Apartment, unfortunately I don't have the address with me but I will post it soon. Kristian ... read more

Hey everyone. Well today is our last full day before we depart for Zurich tomorrow. What a truly fantastic time we have had here. I have always had a love of castles and Germany has alot to offer. Whenever on the train heading from one point to another we will often see one overlooking the nearby town. In the last post John mentioned the Neuschwanstein Castle. Dear god it was truly a sight to see. It was a shame that it was never completed on the interior because of his premature death but you could still apprectiate the parts that where finished. His bedroom alone took 4 woodcrafters 4 years to sculpt all the timber decorations. But as John mentioned the best part about it was the view we got from above the castle. After walking ... read more

We now find ourselves in Tübingen in South West Germany, quite a lot has happened since the last entry. As I said (I think) the day after the last entry we were headed for Neuschwanstein Castle, the castle that Walt Disney modelled his on. We went out with 3 Americans we met at the hostel. The Castle is in the town of Füssen which was 2 hours by train away from München but worth every minute of the journey. The castle was built by a guy called Ludwig II who was the king of Bavaria and pretty much crazy. He was obsessed with Richard Wagner and wanted to biuld a castle and dedicate it to him. He already lived in a castle but he didnt like the way his mother decorated it so he set about ... read more

After finishing my locum job and having no work organised I decided to book a ticket and jump on a plane the following day. I ended up in Germany being met by Phil and Basti at the Stuttgart airport. They met me with a NZ flag !! So cool to see them !!!! We drove to their home town of tubingen. It interesting driving on german motorways at night, on the right hand side with no speed limits!! Was met by phil's family who all stayed awake to meet me and have a light evening meal. Stayed with Phil's family - his mother Rika, sister Julia, dog Luna and brother Johannes- who everyone calls honey, but i called Joe. I got to live in a real german house and they made me german food. I got ... read more
