Kisbee came out of the garage today and was very excited as we were going to “see the sea”. Kisbee had a problem starting again today as there is something amiss with the mixture, which a recent return to the garage should have sorted but obviously hasn’t. Fortunately Kisbee was as keen as we were to be off so after some gentle persuasion we were on our way. Out of the campsite, up the hill, down to the sea and then right turn for Theoule-sur-mer a couple of miles up and along and down this stunningly scenic coastal road. Lovely spot. About 10 years ago we stayed at a small campsite in Agay, a few miles east of Cannes. From there we visited a rather lovely resort, Theoule-sur-Mer, on the scooter, . When planning this trip I suggested I’d like to go there again so first stop on the south coast of France is on the east side of the bay of Cannes, at Mandelieu-la-Napoule. Nearest place I could find an ACSI campsite with a pool. We never normally even think of booking ahead in September but I’d phoned yesterday thinking they might be over busy this being a weekend and glorious weather but was told they had spaces. An adventure across southern France... Today was another beautiful day! We started the day at the city of Avignon. We went on a guided tour through the Palais des Papes... Palace of the Popes. The Popes moved the seat of the Catholic Church from Rome to Avignon in the 14th century for about 70 years to avoid conflict in Rome. They built a huge, and incredible, palace complex that reflects their wealth and influence. After Avignon we travelled on to the French Riveria. Not even a small amount of rain could dampen the adventure of exploring the narrow streets and walking along the Meditteranean Sea in Nice.
