Walked to Saint Marie Madeleine, Place de la Concorde, crossed Pont de la Concorde, Musee Rodin, Musee de l'Armee in Hotel des Invalides, Eglise du Dome (Napolean I's tomb), Parc du Champ de Mars, Eiffel Tower, crossed Pont D'lena, Musee de la Marine, Arc de Triomphe, walked home. Thursday (Temp. 7deg. Overcast) Got up 6:30am, last boring breakfast. Checked out 8:30am. Caught underground from Piccadilly Circus to Waterloo. Dropped tickets for Eurostar down escalator crack after check-in. Caught Eurostar to Paris 10:20am, arrived 2:20pm (1 hour ahead local time). Walked to hotel, nice hotel (Corona Opera Hotel). Went for walk to Galeries Lafayette, much warmer than London. Tried to find somewhere to eat, failed miserably. Had a wine then got take-away burgers, at "Quick", like a French McDonald's with English words on menu.... read more

Another acquiantance recommended that when you are in France, you need to see Versailles.. pronounced as "ver sigh"..i thought i was "ver sales".. I went to Versailles alone since my boss wanted to rest before going home to Manila. But, I was raring to go and see what was in Versailles. It was a short train trip from Paris to Versailles and 4 to 5 blocks walk from the station to the Chateau. The main attraction was the Chateau de Versailles. It was BIG!! You can see the photo here of the vast, well manicured garden of the chateau which I loved very much. I have started to love going to the museums and historical places these past days here in Europe. ... read more

Paris! My dream destination and I couldn’t believe that I was in lovely Paris! It was cold and drizzling in Paris when we arrived in our hotel - beside Galeries Lafayette. My boss and I attended an ISSA conference in Valencia, Spain but before going there we wanted to see Paris first. Of course, we went to Tocadero to see a view of the Eiffel Tower. It was easy going around Paris using the Paris Metro. It was fun learning how to go from one place to another with Paris Metro! It was fun going up the Eiffel Tower and walking in the park. But BEWARE - I had a near pickpocket incident while I was queuing to pay for my souvenirs at the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. Good thing, I saw her ... read more

In 2002 I went to Oberaudorf, in Bavaria. I was working on Faculty with a music program and at the end of our time we had a little less than a week off. My friend Daniel and I decided to rent a car and drive to Paris. It was a great idea and I spent some of the best times of my life, up to that point, during this trip. It was about an 8 hour drive from Oberaudorf and that was okay since we had good CD's to listen too. The surprising thing was the cost of the tolls on the way there. Some were okay, but some were as expensive as 16 Euros...if I remember correctly. It was late July and the weather was hot but pretty awesome. We arrived in Paris late on ... read more

The final leg of our 2002 trip to Galipolli was a weekend in Paris. We travelled by bus from Nottingham and crossed under the English Channel in the tunnel. E had thought that we were going be ferry, but that was not to be. Learnt how to use the Metro, and went shopping, to the Louvre and markets, and walked along the Seine just as people were opening up their stalls. Return journey to UK uneventful, except by now it was clear the E suffered from claustrophobia in tunnels. She was glad to see the last of the Chunnel!... read more

Pictures From France Europe » France » Ile de France » Paris By Pilgrim June 1st 2001 TonyI flew in and out of Paris; and honestly I wasn't super impressed with the city. It definately a "must see" in Europe, but that's mostly for the art and monuments. The town left me wanting more. Who knows? Maybe I'll get a chance to give it a second chance sometime.... read more

:)First real adventure out of the country. I was in sixth grade and felt like a princess going to Paris. There is nothing like being on a natural high, roaming the alleyways of paris, buying a crepe on champs d'eleyses. Just like New York City it's the town that never sleeps, it's only rejuvenated when the sun goes down. The Louvre...oh the Louvre...you need a week just to go through everything there, we did the cliff notes version in a day hitting all the necessary stops. The mona lisa, THe Arc Angel, and the pyramid entrance. For the 10 days we were there I lived on bread, chocolate, and water. With all the food that is in this amazing city I chose that to dine on...but being a picky eater isn't easy. ... read more
