J'màpelle Sean je ne comprendè pa. Well ze rolled into Paris yesterday and it is a cool city. Really clean and tons of old buildings, churches and restaurants. A little expensive for my likings but a szeet place. Today we went and checked out the luve and Eifle tower. Total let down on the Eifle tower. I was expecting a monster and got a tiny little tower. I guess everyone/thing hyped it up way too much. Walked for like freaking an hour to the cataco,bs and it was closed. Absolutely pissed. Aw well we need the exercise. So off to Morrison's grave we went. Now that was a cool grave. Smaller than all the surrounding but really neat. Right in the middle of a crazy, old, giant, cemetary. The cemetary was nuts huge tombs and grave ... read more

I got up early, Brendan made us bacon sandwiches for breakfast and I packed my bag. We left early and caught the tube to Heathrow to get there about 12pm. We were forced to stand out side in the threatening rain with 100s of other people until our flight was called. After a few hours we were allowed to go into the terminal and check in (Yay!) While we were waiting in line, we were informed that our flight had been cancelled and we needed to be rebooked on to a different flight and shifted into another tent. We rebooked for a flight later that night and where then sent to the other end of the airport, and after a long process were put on standby for an early evening flight. We went and had ‘lunch/ ... read more

Hi from Paris. One quicky before I'm back in Toronto this Friday. I've been in Paris since the beginning of the month working on stories. Originally I was going to stay at Shakespeare and Co., the English language bookstore that will sometimes put up writers from abroad for free, but they were entirely full when I arrived; so I called up a friend from Jerusalem who is studying here (at a Yiddish-language library! in Paris! to think!) and proceded to his place for the purpose of crashing on his floor for a night or two until I could find a hostel. We had discussed this possibility in advance. To make a long story Ottoman, turns out he was going off to Turkey for a week's vacation a few days later, and so he quite generously asked ... read more

It rained. And rained. And rained. So we ate. And ate. And ate. In between stomach filling epidsodes we went up the Eiffel Tower in the rain, walked the Champs Elysée in the rain and ran between coffee shops in the rain. The smartest thing we did was to buy tickets to the Musée D’Orsay from the reception at our hotel. When we arrived the line was long, long, long - I think people must have been standing in the rain for a couple of hours just to buy ticket. We were able to just walked on in at a different entrance. SMART. I am no art buff so the fact that I could recognise a) the names of many of the artists, and b) many of the paintings, shows the degree of fame that the ... read more

So, back to Paris. My favourite city. (at that point anyway) Twice in a one year period. It's a bless'ed life I lead. Anyway, what I forgot to mention in my previous blog was that I got on to the train to Paris without any idea where I'd be staying that night. This was the first time I had undertaken such a thing, and was pretty stressed out about it. Fortunately, the Melbourne girl I sat next to was in exactly the same situation as I was. She too had no place to stay, and if possible, was in any even more disorganised state than I was. We managed to sort ourselves out pretty quickly once we arrived at the Gare du Nord, and headed off to our hostel in the Latin Quarter. I spent the ... read more

It's time for another instalment of Le Tour de Blondini, and as you may have guessed by the french inspired words we have hit Paris, city of luuuurrvvv!!! After a great week in London of catching up with rellies, friends and sights (thank you so much Jennifer, Ryan, Andrew, Lynette, Anna and Nick) it was off on the eurostar, which takes us under the English channel, to Paris travelling at great speeds arriving in just two and a half hours. It's a great way to get to Paris but is expensive if you book it from London, lucky we have friends living here to help us with cheap tickets! Paris, like London, has just been through a bit of a heat wave but luckily things have cooled off and it has been quite mild since our ... read more

So apparently in France its very fashionable to go on strike when its very inconvenient...the telecom workers are on strike, and apparently it means that french phones dont work. Just the pay phones.. you know... the ones i use. But i saved the day and i bought a super cheap french cell phone, call anytime 011-33-689603162 qnd i recieve text messages for free to. I know. why didnt i think of this sooner?? SO Paris is still incredible... the city cant help it. Even the hobos here seem more put together and nicer than in Nice. And they are an excellent source for directions...just dont get too close you you risk smelling like them. Permenently. You wouldnt beleive how hard it is to get the smell of hobo out of your hair! And dining with the ... read more

Mum and I were off to through France for a week taking in Paris, Chamonix in the Alps and finally onto Nice in the French Riviera. We started in Paris and had three nights at Le Regent in Montmartre where Liani, Heath, Luke and I had stayed on an earlier trip. The city of Paris is beautiful, there is something so charming and romantic about the city of lights. On the first day we decided to take in the open top bus tour to give Mum an overall view of the city. Although I had been there before, I saw lots more of different parts of the city on the bus tour. After this we rode the tram back to Montmartre and climbed the many steps up to Sacre Coer. There was a mass taking place ... read more
