so i had to move to a new apartment again. i packed all my thing, and it took two trips half way across the city (changing trains once each way), but i'm all settled. And the view. Its like a postcard. I can see the Eiffel Tower every time I'm in the kitchen, and if i'm in the second bedroom I can see that, plus the sacre coeur. and thats just the start. The paris skyline is way prettier than Edmontons...but i'm biased. I'm in love with the Eiffel Tower. Photos really don't do it justice! Yesterday was the first Sunday of August, which to you may mean nothing, but in Paris, it means every museum is free for the entire day. It also means there is a four hour wait in every linem at every ... read more

No sleep on the plane left us somewhat frazzled but yet we still managed. After freshening up at the hotel we were off. First off we walked to the Arche de Triomphe and climbed up to the top, wow, our legs felt like jelly! We then took the RER (the underground train) to the Eiffel Tower. Soaking our feet in the reflective pools then waiting in line to take elevator to the very top, breathtaking! After good nights sleep we are off to the airport and to Rome.... read more

After an exhausting flight we have finally arrived in Paris. The cab ride to our Hotel was an adventure! The driver had one foot on the gas pedal and the other on the brake and we were off! The hotel we got in Paris, the Hotel Foch, is right on Embassy row. It's 6 floors high but only two rooms wide, the one person elevator has a maximum capacity of 225 kilos! But it is cozy. Well it's 6:20 now, going to freshen up then go for a walk, I noticed we past the Arch de Triumph only a few blocks from our hotel, then find somewhere to eat then find that Tower that is supposed to be famous or something, heard it is something to see at night. Ciao for now.... read more

I decided to do the tourist thing today. I popped in my ipod and walked to the Eiffel Tower. It was quite the hike, but well worth it. The amount of people around it was staggering. I hopped on a tourist bus and rode around to the major tourist sites in Paris. It was pretty cool to see all the stuff you only see in magazines or the movies. I have got to give it up for the cyclists of Paris. These people were riding some old school bikes and riding in traffic that would scare me if I were driving. I went back down to the Champs Elysee to see the Eiffel tower and other landmarks lit up at night. It was a good way to end my stay in Paris... read more

So, I'm leaving tomorrow, I'm really getting excited and I definitely can't concentrate on any of the work on my desk. In one hour I'm going home to pack my suitcase and at 11:30 am tomorrow the plane will take off. First stop Bahrain for a 3 hour layover ... read more

Thats right. 3 days of rain and 1 day of sun so far, but i am loving every second of the rain!! My apartment here is sooooo much better than that dump in Nice. Very secure...when people close the doors. But hey, you cant have everything. My roommate is a really sweet Polish girl named Martyna. Shes adorable. And she speaks english, which is good because neither of us know enough french to have a meaningful conversation! The director of my school, Monsier Botton, is adorable. And he speaks about a million languages. And my teacher isnt the best at teaching, he copies everything directly out of a grammar book, but hey, at least i'm learning now! I love this city, and even the people. But i cant write more, i'm going to Le Musee d'Orsay ... read more

Okay so it is day 4 in Paris and I am attempting to type on a crazy keyboard to write this blog. So far it has been a crazy few days. It started off with a close call forgetting ,my video camera at home (dont worry Rob it wasnt all your faul hehe). It was pretty difficult to travel on my own all the way from Gatwick airport to Paris station where I met up with Angela (because my bag was super awkward) but I made it safe and sound. Angela met me at the train station and guided me to our hotel in a what we have now named Paris Harlem. Our hotel is small but it is fairly nice as far as hotel standards go especially since we are getting it for 16 canadian ... read more

bonjour from paris! we've had a wonderful few days in paris and it def beats out london as a cultural holiday destination. everywhere you go, there is some sort of musical/ theratrical entertainment. so far, we've witnessed instrumental performances in the train stations, classical music in carparks, and puppet shows on the train - music everywhere! paris really seems to exude creativity, and this can be seen around street corners anywhere. a special mentions goes to salim, a true artisitc genuis who bends metal wire into practically anything. and this other guy (didnt really catch his name) who sketches portraits on the banks of the seine river.. ush and i had one done.. will post photo up next time other places of interest, ;usee d'orsay, le louvre (where priya had a brief run in with security ... read more

Salut! So Paris goes well. Its more than I could say for my French really but considering Ive been doing it a week, things havent gone too badly. Met up with Monsieur Ludovic last Thursday evening which was nice. First post Camino Pilgrim Ive met. It was nice to chat about the whole experience and we both agreed we missed it greatly. I think I will definately return at somepoint soonish. It was really good to see that the whole experience and emotions from the Camino remain strong and dare I say get stronger? Certainly for me and I believe also with mon ami monsieur Ludovic. On Friday I met up with Sandrine from Morocco. Sandrine was very nice to me and allowed me to speak my limited French for the first half of the evening. ... read more
