Howdy Y'all, So I'm in Croatia, teaching at the American College of Management and Technology, in Dubrovnik. I've been here since the 14th of March, I am still in the process of settling in and finding a home for everthing in my apt. The location of my apt, is perfect I am a 15-20 min walk from School, old town is only another few minutes from there. I have 2 grocery stores less than 5 minutes Ston and Moli Ston, they produce the "best" oysters in the world, according to all of the locals. They were pretty darn goodand really don't care for raw oysters. Also it is the home to the 2nd longest wall in the world. Ok enough talking here are the pix. Ted... read more

Hello all, Slovenia was a wonderful little haven for us. We managed to stop there in a little hotel that was not far from a lake that stretched into the horizon, though it seemed to be constantly cradled by a blanket of misty fog. The first day we settled in and made our way meandering through the tiny towns (if you can call them that) sprinkled about the lake, and then found ourselves on the path leading around the lake itself. We again, attempted to skip some rocks and throw each other in, and as the sun set, realized we were to be dining at the only restaurant open in any of the local towns (traveling off-season does present some challenges!) We stayed in bed whilst people began getting up around us. In dorm rooms you have two strategies for mornings; firstly you can try and get up first and beat everyone else to the bathroom, however this may easily fail if someone has an early train etc. The second (and preferred) option is to lounge around in bed until the majority of people have left and then use the hostel facilities at leisure. We opted for the second option and attempted to stay in bed until the majority of the Aussies were up. Irritatingly the hostel owners had chosen a period in time when every bed in the hostel was occupied to renovate the only shared bathroom. This is THE place which is part of my soul and blood!! Here any traveller I know who came found it not only wonderful, but magical. I like meditating, walking with my dog, sit on the rocks on the beach, sit in the yoga posture and look at the sea, the sky, the green trees and get re energised. Our bus to Dubrovnik left Kotor at eight thirty and surprisingly we managed to get up for it. The bus was comfortable enough but we had a little bit of agro at the border. At the checkpoint to leave Montenegro there was a general shout down the bus, we heard something "Anglaiski" and we were beckoned off the bus. We were told to get our backpacks and follow the border guard into a room. They asked us where we had come from, where we were going and purpose of visit (as if our backpacks and stamps in our passports didn't spell it out.) They asked to see further I.D from Rob and then proceeded to ask him questions about his job, where he went to university etc. They looked at each other and then passed us ... read more
