Kicking off by going back to my birthplace to touch down with the family once more, I am plied with continuous great food and just sharing through being... Reaffirming good vibes and being reminded of myself by great friends (thanks). Than wandering through the hang-out places of 'previous life', eating roast chestnuts and wandering into Old Town courtyards in Zagreb. Magically experiencing four seasons in one week on the coast - splashing in the sea in shorts and a t-shirt in one day, only to laugh at the snow and enjoy the heat of the fire on the other. I have to keep reminding myself that I'm still in Croatia and not Italy. Spent my last days exploring the Plitvice Lakes National Park which has stunning turquoise lakes and waterfalls. The guide book says this is the region where the war for independence began, and there are still landmines in the area. No hiking anywhere in Croatia unless on marked paths or without a local. Someone told me they send out some sheep just in case - mmm, mutton stew? Also made the most of the Adriatic Coast by chilling out in Pula on the Istrian Peninsula. Pula's very close to Italy and Germany, and everyone speaks both languages here more so than English. Interesting Roman architecture and relics. Geo: 45.815, 15.9785Trying to burn some Slovenian tolars today - bought some Haribo gummy bears. Haven't had these in ages. A rainy and dreary train ride to Zagreb - uneventful. I ate some orange chocolate that I had bought. Little bits of peel inside - normally I hate that but it tasted pretty good. I have lots of tolars left - I'll have to change it in Croatia. Got to Zagreb, checked into the hostel, and walked around the old town. Things are fairly expensive here, almost on par with areas in Western Europe. Walked to a mall ... very cramped. We left Budapest at 3pm on the train. We met a lovely Canadian couple who were on their honeymoon and interrailing of all things! Unsurprisingly, for the third time in the third different country we bumped into our favorite french people Charlotte and Stephanie on the train. Arrived in Zagreb at 10pm decided to follow an English couple who seemed to know where they were going, soon discovered they were lying bastards and had no clue where the hostel was. After much deliberation and consultation we located the Ravnice Youth Hostel. First hostel that we have stayed in that was actually built to be a hostel. 朝早一早去札格勒布o既十六湖國家公園,我好期待架!呢個公園由16個大大小小的翠綠色湖泊同埋山林組成,又有瀑布,好似一個世外桃源。全程行足個幾鐘但都唔悶,因為靚啦,而且d景一路行一路變,好有柳暗花明又一村o既感覺。行完食完lunch就去匈牙利o既哈域斯啦。呢晚間酒店...呀!我真係恨不得炸左佢!!冇冷氣都算啦,咁多日都慣左啦,但...間房簡直係一個昆蟲館!天花板、牆、地,甚至我張床,都有各式各樣o既昆蟲。大佬,我至怕昆蟲。我嘗試用蚊怕水、保濕噴霧,甚至止汗劑泥噴佢,佢都冇事。天呀!我手足無措,又真情流露,忍唔住喊。(哈哈我成日都係咁)我甚至拎晒d書、日記、mp3入廁所,諗住就咁過夜。直到祖父同我換床,熄晒燈,先訓得到。唉。最慘都係呢晚啦...... read more
