Hello Friends, We were awoken before 5 A.M. this morning by a man and a woman who were praying/mediatating/crying LOUDLY. We both put in ear plugs and attempted to go back to sleep. I went in to take a hot shower to discover that it wasn´t. Most of you who know me know that I hate cold water, but somehow I have become a bit more accustomed to it (there is no alternative other than being stinky, which I hate even worse than being cold). Today was our journey of Lago Atitlan. Our boat was an old Winnebago, but at least it was crazy slow. We were being lapped by other boats and even taunted by their drivers. Our first stop was in San Pedro, a pretty little city with the usual indigenous folks as well ... read more

Buenas dias! Wow, well what a week it´s been!! I have had spanish lessons every day from 8am to midday one to one and it´s intensive....verbs, vocab and more grammar for four hours. Then off to the market place where I pìck up the "chicken" bus to my school in the little town of Itzapa. ¨(I still haven´t worked out why they´re called chicken buses yet!) The school where I am teaching is in a little town called Itzapa which is 50 minutes away from the town where I´m staying (Antigua). The bus goes through lots of little towns picking up and dropping off people, it will stop anywhere and is often full with three to a seat. Once we arrive in Itzapa it´s a 10 minute walk to the school which consists of 6 ... read more

So we decided to take the trip to Lago Atitlan, we get picked up by our bus one time, amazingly enough, after picking up a busload of people in Antigua we head to the lake, little did we know our driver would try to pass every car on the road, ya no big deal right, how about when going uphill and on a curve, apparently though hes not the only one, anyways the kicker to the ride was when Milly Vanilly came on i mean yes it couldnt get better than that. We were going to go to santa cruz but then a boat full of people were going to san marcos so we joined them, for about 4$ we took a boat across the lake, all we had heard of san marcos was that ... read more

So, it has been a while since I blogged.... It has been an incredibly busy month of relaxing on Lago de Atitlan, taking it easy at Semuc Champey, seeing Tikal at our leisure, chilling in Antigua, and hanging out in Coban. After the last installment, we booked down to San Cristobal in Mexico, where Aden got sick, and then we moved on to San Pedro on the Lago and met Morgan. San Pedro was pretty cool. However, we found ourselves going over to San Marcos everyday to go swimming at these really cool cliffs. Aden and I were working on our dives off the 5 m cliff, and all of us were jumping the 10 m one. It was sweet. There was this naked dude there named Chard -- this really BIG hippie from California. Dear ... read more

So, its been a long time folks. Sorry for the delay, I have no excuse except Im in Central America.... Which means the following- Sometimes the power goes out, everyday. Sometimes I forget. Sometimes Im eating, or sleeping, or at the lake, or running around. Sometimes Im knee deep in a serious yoga-meditation retreat and its just not in the cards! But here I am, all bask in the glory of this summerized update. Before New Years, I got on a bus that drove stright through Honduras, into El Salvador where I stayed the night. Next morning, stright for Guatemala City. Where I spent all of 40 minutes in. Stright to Antigua. Where I spent one night, and went to El Hato- a small village about 40 minutes into the mountains from Antigua. Had a ... read more

ENGLISH ...No, not us! The folk doing moon worship in the reconnection centre and the ones sitting under plastic pyramids. Oh and the ones who've done so much yoga their heads have gotten stuck up the asses. Only kidding! There were pyramids though! We're at Lake Atitlan in a place called San Marcos, in hotel Aaculaax, in the Mirador suite and very sweet it is! This is more like Christmas. In fact this is our Christmas gift to us. Kind of Christmas (a slight return). A beautiful view, from up on the hill, over looking the lake. We're so high up we can't hear the barking dogs nor the ohming of the hippies at the water's edge. It's beautiful up here! Dotted around the gorgeous ethereal body of water are a number of villages populated by ... read more
