Simon Warne & Abigail Coleberd

After 3 years of hard studying at university, Simon doing industrial design and Abi doing her nurse training. We decided it was time for a break! We have both always talked about travelling the world and now we are making it a reality, at a perfect time in our lives before we have to settle down and join the real world!
Our trip starts in Las Vegas!!!!!! (where hopefully we will win millions to fund the rest of our trip!!) We will then be hiring a car to travel through Death Valley and Yosemite National Park arriving in San Francisco before heading down the Californian coast to Los Angeles!
We then fly to the Cook Islands for 12 days of paradise.
Our next stop is NewZealand where for the next 4 weeks our home will be a campervan (with no toilet or shower!!) to explore the south and north islands!
From New Zealand we will be flying to Oz, spending 5 weeks working our way from Cairns down the east coast to sydney by bus. Sydney will be our home for Christmas and New Year! (BBQ turkey on the beach!!!)
From Sydney we then fly to Singapore where we will spend a few days before making our way by rail through malaysia during our last month to our final destination, Bangkok!
Then back to the cold and Wet (possibly snowy) UK on the 31st Jan 2011 to show off our tans!!

We will miss all our friends and family and hope to keep you well informed through this blog of our comings and goings!
Lots of Love
Simon and Abi

Dear blog fans, The time has come to write our final blog and fill you all in on the last part of our adventure! You will be pleased to know we got back to the UK safely on a very long 14 hour flight! Since our last blog we spent the final week of our trip in Koh Tao and Bangkok. Unfortunately whilst we were in Koh Tao it rained and was overcast for the duration of our stay. However we made the most of our time and took advantage of the low prices in Thailand so Simon decided to have a Thai Massage. Simon can safely say it did not feel relaxing one bit and felt that that every bone in his body was clicked but at least he was brave enough to try it ... read more

Hello Everybody, Hope everybody is well and looking forward to seeing us back home soon! We can't wait to see you all! We are now in Thailand, loving every minute of our time here, except unfortunately on my birthday.... when it decided to pour with rain whilst we were on what was supposed to be a lovely boat day trip to the Ang Thong Islands. I did however manage to have a great evening as we went out for dinner and Abi had arranged with the hotel to get me a birthday cake with candles, where lots of people, including the local Thai children sang happy birthday to me! From Malaysia, our first stop in Thailand was on Ko Phi Phi, a very small but very beautiful island. Whilst here we went on a longtail boat ... read more

Hello everyone, Just thought we would fill you in on our progress in south east asia. Singapore was a real contrast of modern and traditional areas. Whilst there we had our first of now many meals from a hawker centre (food court) which is an experience everytime! We've been getting really good chicken and rice dishes with our cheapest meal being only £2 for both of us including drinks!! You don't get that at home! We visited the raffles hotel but decided not to have a drink as it was very expensive, instead we went to the top (56th floor) of the new sky sands 7 star hotel for a drink, overlooking the infinity swimming pool on the top and great views of the city sky line. It was our highlight of Singapore. We also took ... read more

Dear family and friends, A very happy new year to you all! We had a great time in Sydney, it was a great city to end our Australia travels. We arrived there on Christmas eve and then on Christmas day went to Coogee Beach for a BBQ. It was the strangest Christmas we've ever had and did not really feel like Christmas except for when you looked down the packed out beach and saw most people (including us) wearing santa hats whilst sunbathing!! We had a lovely day but to be honest Christmas in the UK is celebrated a lot more and we both missed being at home. Between Christmas and New Year we spent time seeing the sights of Sydney, including the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and Botanic Gardens. We also took a day trip ... read more

G'day everybody, Hope you are all well. Our latest adventure to report included doing a 3 night bush camp/ canoe trip in Noosa. When we arrived it looked a little more basic than we expected!! But also very nice with a camp fire going! Our first night was spent in one of the permanent dorm tents in hammock style beds, surrounded by the odd creepy crawly and occasional massive Spider!! So as you can imagine sleeping wasn't the easiest! On our second day we were given our instructions and crash course in canoeing before we set out along with 10 other travellers and NO GUIDE for our 16km (10 miles) canoe trip down the Noosa river!!! Lets just say it was tough going but we made it and it was nice to know the next days ... read more

Hello everyone, Just thought we'd say hi and try and upload a few photo's for you from our latest adventure, sailing around the Whitsunday islands! We had an amazing time and it was such a great birthday for Abi. Whitehaven beach was amazing, the sand was pure white and snorkeling on the reef was also brilliant, seeing thousands of fish and sea turtles! We're still making our way down the east coast and enjoying the sunshine, although there was really bad flooding in some places here in the week delaying our bus! Hope everybody is well, will do a more informative blog soon, Missing you all, lots of love Abi and Simon xxxxxxxxx P.S thank you for my birthday messages, love Abi x x x x ... read more

Hello everybody, How are you all in the very cold UK that we have been hearing about on the news?! Sounds like winter has really set in early this year! We are missing the snow but not the feeling of being cold! We arrived in Australia a week ago and after a few days in 33 degrees hot Cairns, soaking up the sun by the lagoon we began our journey down the east coast on the Greyhound bus. We then spent a few days on Magnetic Island as a hostel there was doing a very good deal and whilst we were there we went for breakfast at the Koala sanctuary, getting a bushtucker breakfast and being shown a small crocodile, a python, a tarantula and then a very cute Koala named Barney! We both got to ... read more

Dear Blog Readers, Having a great time in Auckland it is a lovely city. This afternoon the Christmas carnival is on so we will be watching that in the sunshine!! It feels very strange seeing Christmas decorations up in a hot country! Can't believe we have seen that you have had snow back in England already! Sounds like it must be getting really cold! Just thought as we have a bit of time that we would put our white water rafting photo's up for you to all see, and yes it was as scary as it looks at some points!!!! We have to be up at 5:30am tomorrow to get to the airport for our flight to Cairns, not looking forward to the early start but looking forward to our next adventure! We have both loved ... read more

Hello once again!! We are nearly at the end of our travels in New Zealand and will be sad to say goodbye to our little van but glad to have a bit more space again with hot showers in hostels!! North Island has been great although not quite as spectacular as south island. We went to the Museum of New Zealand in Wellington, which was really interesting and fun. We got to stand in an earthquake simulation room and saw a collossal squid amongst many other things! We also saw the biggest lake in New Zealand, Lake Taupo, which looked more like the sea than a lake! Here we also saw the Huka Falls, in which 200,000 litres of water pass through a second, so as you can probably imagine it was a pretty cool sight! ... read more

Hello, Hope everybody is well and thank you again to those of you that have sent us messages and comments, it is lovely to hear from you and know that you are enjoying our blogs!! We have nearly finished our roadtrip of the south island now, getting the ferry on tuesday. We are both loving New Zealand and it is without doubt our favourite place so far! The scenary here is amazing and beautiful. We took a boat trip on the Milford Sound, which was beautiful and did white water rafting in Queenstown, which was a bit scary but lots of fun and the raft stayed upright so that was a bonus!! We also went on a guided walk onto the Franz Josef glacier, which was awesome, getting to walk through ice tunnels. Camping in the ... read more
