Geo: 34.0633, -118.359Late to bed on Sat night, so after a sleep-in we went for brunch to Gracias Madre, a vegan Mexican restaurant on Melrose in West Hollywood. Food was great, especially the roasted tofu dish.Then we spent a few hours at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the adjacent La Brea Tar Pits.We fly out tonight around 11pm and get home on Tues morning.... read more

Geo: 33.9772, -118.46Congestion at LAX saw us delayed on the tarmac in Sacramento for an hour. At LAX we alighted onto the tarmac and a shuttle bus took us to the terminal to retrieve our luggage. After being snarled in traffic on the airport ring road Erin picked us up and we had an extra good fish lunch (Malibu Fish Grill) near her work.In the afternoon we visited a couple of shops and picked up Erin after work. Walked a little over 2km to Venice for dinner (Casa Linda Mexican Grill) and ice creams (Salt and Straw), then walked back along the canals and bridges. Geo: 38.9814, -120.936Stress-free process getting to our departure gate at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. At Penn Stn the platform for our train to the airport was not announced until a few minutes before departure, but it was simple to find it and to board the train. A conductor came around to check all tickets and after 30min we alighted at the Newark Airport station and waited two minutes for the air train to shuttle us 10min to our terminal. Then, virtually no queues to check-in or to clear security, what a bonus! Downside is we had a 150min wait for our flight: but no probs with airport wi-fi.Short connection in Phoenix, then on to Sacramento where Dwayne and Jo picked us up and drove us an hour to their home in Foresthill.
