TUE, 27 SEP 2022 – Day 2: Golden Circle/Hvolsvollur Valley - Make an early start to beat the crowds on the Golden Circle route. Head to Thingvellir National Park, home to the Parliament Plains and location of Iceland’s first parliament. Thingvellir also contains the Silfra fissure, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are slowly pulling apart. The resulting gap is partly filled with fresh water and is clearly visible. From here head to the Geysir geothermal area, checking out Strokkur and watching as the geyser swells with blue water before erupting and shooting some 20-30 metres in the air. I had several “housekeeping” items on the London agenda. I had been watching the Iceland weather and saw that the days had been cool and windy and the evenings had been down right brisk and windy. I went shopping again for some sturdier footwear, heavy socks, gloves and a stocking cap. I also needed to update all the upcoming tour information since I really hadn’t even looked at the Iceland trip since I left America. Indeed, I hadn’t even checked what time my plane departed until a couple of days before my flight. Rain dominated the weather forecast for Wednesday thru Friday, so I set Saturday as my tourism day. MON, 19 SEP 2022 - Day 12: Continue to York - We travel to the medieval market town of Alnwick this morning, where we'll see the impressive castle home to the Duke of Northumberland and the Tenantry Column, upon which the Percy Lion sits and surveys the town. Journey through Northumberland to the cathedral city of York. We'll embark an orientation walk past its cobblestone Shambles and see the inspiring Minster with its 'heart of Yorkshire' before joining our newfound friends for a Farewell Dinner.... read more

SAT, 17 SEP 2022 - Day 10: Journey to Enchanting Edinburgh - Heading back to the lowlands of Scotland, we stop in Pitlochry before heading to the historic home of golf, St. Andrews. Here, the first games were played during the 1400s. See its famous 18th hole before crossing the Firth of Forth to Scotland's enchanting capital, Edinburgh.
